Asked what he'd say to fans who booed the Jones pick, Gettleman said, "In time, you'll be very pleased."

The Giants had the same grades on Jones and Allen. Gettleman said they were on the same line. In this case, the quarterback position won.

"It's a wonderful thing when need and value match," Gettleman said. "We're thrilled to get Daniel. He was up there with everybody else on our board in terms of value. He is just perfect for us. We really believe in this kid. We really believe he's gonna be a nice -- not a nice -- a real quality quarterback for us, for our franchise."

Okay, even if all of that is correct, did they need to burn their #6 pick for him, or could they have waited until pick 17? What other teams had need/opportunity that would have snagged him from 7-16?

This is the sound right before your team gets fucked or wins the lottery, nobody knows for certain what they are getting in a draft, it's a crap shoot at best

NFL Film's Greg Cosell said Duke QB Daniel Jones reminds him of Nick Foles.
Cosell compares their ability to stay in the pocket and deliver while being pressured. Neither quarterback is a fantastic athlete, but they both can move enough to create inside the pocket. To further add to the comparison, neither quarterback had a lot of college production, but that's probably why Foles slipped to Round 3.
