Eh.

I'm fine with moving on from Eli... it's past time on that front.

What I worry about is that the Giants are currently so bad at WR that it represents a situation in which it would be very, very, very hard for any young QB to succeed.

Hopefully Sterling Shepard can come back healthy and after a couple more games, Golden Tate will be back... so at least there is some hope in the near future.

Gonna be hard if either or both of those are out of the line-up, though.

"Overrated"?

The overwhelming majority of people do not "overrate" Eli Manning. If anything, it's the opposite... he has been the butt of jokes for years.

edit: I was wrong, it wasn't his WAR it was his impact on the betting line. Eli was the only QB that had a positive impact if he didn't play

I was speaking over his whole career, recently, he's only been extremely overrated.

I don't have too high or too low of an opinion of Eli's abilities. I do judge him harshly for how he conducted himself prior to the draft, I thought his behavior was spoiled/entitled. And he got what he wanted in the end.

But over his career in NY, he has behaved himself and seems like a genuinely nice guy, if not a little dull and un-inspiring. It sucks that this is the way any veteran QB has to go out, but he's not the first nor the last. Be grateful that you played more than a decade in a league where the average career is 3 years

To a certain extent, Eli is a victim of his remarkable ability to cleat up every Sunday.

He has clearly lost arm strength and any of the small bit of mobility he ever had. Yet, for the past many seasons he has been able to keep trotting out there and give it go... with completely mediocre results.

In his prime, he was actually a decent QB... but that was so long ago that it's almost hard to remember.

I've never believed the "ruin QB" idea by some. If a guy cannot handle poor performances/struggles he wasn't going to be very good in the first place.
