UK Cowboy
Happy Father's Day T-Roy
I thought a 1st made sense for teams that thought they would be picking in the late 20's or later. Trading away a possible top 5-10 pick overall when you need a QB is another story
It could take a couple of years to know for sure how it pans out.
In today's NFL you have to maximize your opportunities to get talent....especially if you're sucking hind tit. The front office has to identify where the team is deficient and identify potential talent months before Goodell calls the first pick.
Move first, move best...but yeah, don't fuck it up as well!
Good problem to have you just do what Seattle just did move a player for value and draft again to fill the holes. Find a desperate team like Houston along the way never hurts either...The draft is a crap shoot. Having a lot of picks increases your chances of finding a stud or gives you the ability to move around and or make trades.
Even if the majority of picks from one or two drafts pan out, and if they're quality all those contracts hit at once. That's why you need balance and finding players that fit your system.
NE is the perfect model. Sure TB12 was THE diamond in the rough. Regardless NE is always drafting near the bottom or losing picks (Thanks Goodell) yet still remain the cream of the crop.
well the masterful PE1 claimed the Cowboys gave away a top ten pick for Cooper. He couldnt have been more wrong.CBS predicted that the Steelers will pick 7th overall.III like it! In all honesty it could work out for both if Minkah fits in but if they move him around and he sulks ouch....
I like the odds....well the masterful PE1 claimed the Cowboys gave away a top ten pick for Cooper. He couldnt have been more wrong.
So if Rudolph doesnt suck & holds his own & if this new guy helps the steelers. They might end up mid pack somewhere. lets say late teens.
Or the steelers can fall off a cliff in which case you might be right.
Or be like Cleveland wondering if you're going 0-16 until all those picks/trades over a decade pan out for a very short window.Good problem to have you just do what Seattle just did move a player for value and draft again to fill the holes. Find a desperate team like Houston along the way never hurts either...

I think they 18 picks next yearGive the Dolphins credit for tanking right. They are not messing around, they are losing big and trading everyone and getting good value.
Selling your 1st for a proven commodity though. Knowing how the Steelers draft DBs, their top 10-15 pick woulda been a bust anyway.Terrible trade for the Steelers. That is likely a top 10 pick for a free safety.
This is what scares me the most. I've been beating that drum for over 2 seasons now. Haden struggled a lot in 2017, and he's been playing better since last year, but I still have plenty of doubts about the defensive schemes. They are built to pressure the QB, and they leave the secondary out on an island. Good QBs will always pick them apart with quick passes early to take the air out of the front 7, then attack them deep to make it hurt late in the game. Seen it for almost a decade now.The defense does finally seem to have a lot of pieces to be a good unit.
But it also won't matter as long as Keith Butler is the DC.
FWIW, Mason was being touted as a top 4-5 QB at the position just months before the 2018 draft. That of course blew up with the Heisman candidacy, like it always does. Lamar Jackson & Baker Mayfield vaulted up the draft boards.I heard today on TV he was rated a late 1st round pick going into the draft. So he might have some upside.
Yea that's lunacy. But I'd welcome that plate of crow with open arms.My comment was directed at the Steelers still getting to 12 wins.
