Chris Creighton of Eastern Michigan has beaten a Big 10 team 3 years in a row

that is incredible for what was possibly the worst program in college football prior to his arrival there

That is impressive. Eastern Michigan and New Mexico State would be a good argument for worst programs in the AP era.

Honorable Mention has to go to Mack Brown.
Another team I had zero expectations of, and really surprised how they look.

Two of those three wins are against top 40 teams, too.

fwiw, I used to think it was a guarantee that Clawson would move on to a bigger school. However i have gotten to a point where I would be fairly surprised if he left.
He seems to me to be a Gary Patterson type...happy where he is. I've also read where the guy at Iowa State is pretty content there. I like to see guys like these succeed and stay.

Chip Kelly has done a phenomenal job easing the traffic coming out of the Rose Bowl.

Klieman is a good choice.

Bronco over at UVA deserves some mentioning imo

Ryan Day actually has Ohio State looking better than I expected and Neal Brown deserves some honorable mention imo as well.

I think Chip Kelly is doing fantastic followed by Scott Frost and Jeremy Pru

All in the early part of year 2 in their programs. Even so, one of these is not like the others.

Chip Kelly (0-3) Lost to two G5's and a P5.
Jeremy Pruitt (1-2) Lost to two G5's. Beat an FCS
Scott Frost (2-1) Lost to a P5 on the road (in OT). Beat two G5's

Nebraska beat N. Illinois by 36 pts (44-8) in Lincoln
Utah beat N. Illinois by 18 pts (35-17) in Salt Lake City.

That's AP #10 and Coaches #11 Utah.
Every SportsHoopla voter has Utah ranked. The vast majority somewhere between #9 to #12

Frost took over a (4-8) team. He's got a lot to do to catch up to the Alabama's, Clemson's, Ohio St's and Oklahoma's. But not so much to catch up to the perennial 5 and 6 loss teams.

How long is Auburn gonna keep Gus Malzahn around? This is his 7th year. He's (2-4) in bowl games.
Since 2013: Year 2 (8-5), Year 3 (7-6), Year 4 (8-5), Year 5 (10-4), Year 6 (8-5).

That's pathetic even by Bo Pelini standards.
Harbaugh even laughs at that.

For me it has to be Chris Klieman at Kansas State.

I can go along with this and would echo what others have said about him stepping into the right place.

That said, I would throw Jeff Monken in there as well. He has taken Army and made it a competitive G5 team using an antiquated offensive style.

Full disclosure I was 100% on letting Arkansas have Gus and cashing the buyout check. I'm not on the Gus Bus.

Gus has a win over Saban. Not many in the SEC West or anywhere else can say that.

That's cool.

Pelini had a win over Bob Stoops.

Without a doubt. I have partied so much with EMU players over the years and have a half dozen buddies who have played there.

It is a completely different program under Creighton. Football players didn’t give a shit for a long time there. They’d just party and get their free education.

Creighton has turned them into a halfway respectable program now.

That's weird, because I was just thinking of the Army guy.

I know they haven't played anybody but have beat them in convincing fashion.
And I expected zero out of KSU this year. They might lose every game from here on, but for now, this is my pick.

I mean, I didn't even know who this guy was.

How bout Les Miles at Kansas? They were supposed to be awful and I think they are undefeated.

I think they dropped one a week ago to a nobody, looking ahead at Boston College. The Boston College thing probably forgives that loss though.
