In the 100 years of the NFL, only 4 TE have had 1300+ seasons. Kittle is good, don't get me wrong. But he was also the only healthy option in SF last year. Plus throwing to him did not win them games.

This is my long-winded way of saying don't expect 1300 yards from Kittle. If you disagree, chances are he'll be there when you pick in the 3rd.

this is where the keeper question is always up to the owner, if he has any plans to draft kittle in the third round or even 4th, then he should be the keeper and not CMC...

A lot of good feedback here, again thanks guys. I'm thinking I'm going to stick with CMC, and the main reason @SmokingMonkey pointed out that this is a 10 man league, so there should be decent TE options down the road. Only Kelce is being kept among TEs, and while I'm forfeiting my 2nd rd pick, I will have the first pick of the third because the guys with the 1st and 2nd picks are keeping 3rd rounders from last year, so no biggie.

Not only that, but I have a pretty good idea of who is going to be getting taken in the first 2 rounds based on who was kept, and there's a real chance I could have the chance to pair a Hopkins with another high end WR at 3.1, and then deal with getting a mid-tier TE a few rounds later. In PPR, this makes a ton of sense.

Thanks again gentlemen, have a good weekend :suds:

If that's the case, then this should be an easy choice now. Because with you having the 1st pick in the 3rd round of a 10 team draft, there's a high chance you'll have one of Ertz or Kittle in that spot. So if you want, you can keep CMac, draft a stud to go with him (Kamara, Hopkins, whatever), and STILL be able to pair them with an elite TE if you're set on having an elite TE. Personally I'd wait a little later for a TE but I'm just saying this is a very viable option

that kinda makes sense as well

i must admit my 1st instinct was Kittle

and i swung the other way only after reading everyone else's thoughts before i chimed in

now having checked back in on the thread

i feel it isnt quite cut and dry

who can argue having a stud with the 3rd pick and Cmac waiting as a keeper in 2

consensus says ya go that route...

but Milk's point certainly carries a whole lot of merit

lets say Kittle is kept with a 15th

you will have a ppr stud rb with pick 3 or Hopkins
now
in round 2 either the best rb available to pair with Nuks
or
The best wr available if you were lucky enough to get CMac in 1 or if you went DJ or Zeke

you would now build your team without looking for a TE

so ya

you could release Kittle and lock in CMAC?Hopkins or CMac/Zeke etc etc

and you will definitely have a better 1 2 punch at the start
but you will downgrade at TE
or if you grab Kittle or Kelce in 3 or 4 then you lose out on a better WR2 or RB2 in round 3 or 4

sorry for the long winded rant but i do believe it isnt quite cut and dry....

great options though

you know what please let us all know how it turns out

I would actually vote for Kittle. The value is just too much to ignore. I like the way you thought it out, would you rather have:

Hopkins (1st)
CMAC (2nd)
Kittle (3rd)
Duke Johnson (15th)

or

David Johnson (1st)
Mike Evans (2nd)
Kerryon Johnson (3rd)
Kittle (15th)

or

Hopkins (1st)
CMAC (2nd)
Kerryon Johnson (3rd)
tight end later

Obviously those are just estimates of who would be there at those picks. I think if you're going tight end in the 3rd, then you should keep Kittle in the 15th because your roster will just look much better in the end. If you weren't planning on drafting a tight end in the 3rd then it's a lot closer. But using value based drafting, there's no way that the value of CMAC in the 2nd is going to compare with the value of Kittle in the 15th. If you just want to own CMAC I get it. He won a lot of leagues for people last year and he will be a monster, but then again so did Kittle. You might even end up with CMAC at 3. I've done several drafts that he's fallen to 3rd or 4th in. I honestly don't think you can go wrong either way though. Good luck!!

the thing about keepers is that everyone views things differently... it is hard to convince anyone to think differently... we are all giving our opinions, but we have no clue how he views either CMC or Kittle...

but what makes this decision so hard is both the facts that he has the 3rd overall and that it is a 10 team league...

personally in shallower leagues i like having an elite TE...

Give me Engram Howard or Henry in any order you want after getting your top 2 RBs and WRs after keeping CMC.

To me, in PPR, CMC at the end of the 2nd round is too good to pass when there's suitable replacements for TE

Was gonna say. Can I play? but that wouldnt even be worth playing in honestly.

The thing that a lot of the Kittle supporters are missing is that this is a 10 team league.

Because this is a 10 team league, there will always be good players on the waiver wire week in and week out. You win a league like this by having superstars. And whether or not you are able to draft a good player in the 15th round, you will have the opportunity to pick somebody up during the season. Round value matters less the shallower the league is. The opportunity to pair Cmac with Hopkins/Zeke presents an opportunity that should not be overlooked.

The TE position scarcity thing really does not matter as much in the shallower leagues. And I also personally believe Kittle and Ertz should be valued closer to the Howard/Engram/Henry/Cook tier than they are to Kelce.

Kittle is a really good player, but getting CMac and the 3rd overall pick better sets you up to win this league.

This.

CMac should be the consensus #1 pick in PPR.

I honestly don’t get why so many people have Saquon Barkley ranked ahead. Barkley is a great player, but the Giants are really bad. And if they struggle as expected, don’t be surprised if Barkley isn’t playing when you need him most. CMac has the same upside in a better offense with a higher floor.

And that's the thing, I really don't. I've been pretty successful in fantasy over the past 5 years (4 league titles over two leagues) and I don't think I've ever drafted a TE higher than 7th or 8th round, so no need to mess with it.
