To be fair it was his first game back from his season ending knee injury. Had to expect some rust
Rust is one thing, but not being able to move the ball downfield (to your own team) is another.

Why did they pay a starter salary to a stop-gap qb? He is a decent backup and that is it. They better be looking ahead to the draft.

I concur

Jimmy G rolls out the 1-6, 0 yards, 1INT with a 0.0 passer rating last night.

I know it's just preseason but I think 9ers front office was hoping to see more catches by his own team than the other team.
& it should have been 3 INTs with a pick 6 to boot.

I know all niner peeps will say all the right things, but they have to be concerned by now.

Is that the same Peter King that picked the Bengals to win the AFC North last year?

Yep the same Bengals team that was 1 minute from going 5-1, and then lost last second to Pitt. Then all the wheels fell off as all the star players got hurt and they placed like 17 or 18 guys on IR from that point on. Bengals are not going to be nearly as bad as everyone thinks they will be this year. New system, so we will see how guys gel, but if they do not win it won't be from a lack of talent unless everyone gets hurt again.

Already starting the season without Green, our best OL retired due to health issues and our #1 draft pick is out for the year. We will see how it goes.

You'll freakin' what?

We lost, plain and simple. We do not have quality depth. We can't stand to lose our starters like some better pieced together teams can. We lost too many stars, so we lacked the depth/talent at that point to compete with healthier / better constructed rosters in the NFL.

I am just stating a fact. We were doing well up until the point all our starters began going on the IR. We have considerably more talent than most give us credit for. The difference between the best teams in the league and the worst teams in the league is a difference of maybe 2 to 3 players, one of which being a franchise QB.

On a roster of 56 guys, the difference between the best teams and the worst teams are a QB and maybe 1 or 2 guys. The parity in this league is crazy. Any given year.

A healthy roster on any team, and a stand out year by their starting QB could propel any team in this league into the playoffs.

Hey...you are the one that began the threat..just wanted you to finish whatever you had in mind.

How many years did Manning NOT make the playoffs with a team that basically went 1-15 the year he was hurt?

Brees was not Brees until he got to NO, and how many playoff games has Brees been to since then? How many more games would Brees have won if he had any hint of a defense? You add 1 to 2 great players on that defense at key positions, and the Saints with Brees probably have more than 1 SB, been to it twice though and lost to Manning.

Rodgers may be the best of this group, as he is surrounded by the worst possible team in the NFL outside himself. No defense, no offensive line, skill players lack most every year minus a player here or there like Graham, Nelson or Adams once in a while. Typically, that is Rodgers making them great more times than not. The fact they ever make the playoffs even with Rodgers just floors me. They blow. Without Rodgers, I would rank them in the 28-32 range in the power rankings.

Now, what I am saying is this. The Bengals do not lack talent, they have it in spades, but most all of it is in the starters, so if they start to get hurt, they start losing talent rapidly because the depth is not great. If they stay healthy and lose more than they win this year, I would have to say that falls on the players and coaches not coming to understand the new playbooks or being able to teach it right.

Right now, our weakness is a very young coaching staff and the players being forced to learn a whole new system both offense and defense.

Overall, I say the AFC North does see the Bengals as the weakest link due to that coaching experience, but if you were ranking this team based on talent and potential only, they would rank in the top 15 easily, probably closer to 10. Seeing as that is not how you judge a team at this stage in a season, and you base it off last years wins/losses and the freshness of the coaching staff, I would have to start them off around #20 in the power ranking because of their talent. That would change based on performance of course.

If Vegas and the football world wants to rank them at 29 to 30 in the power rankings, I am certainly okay with that. We play much better as underdogs.

Wasn’t a threat, it’s a saying. Sure you have heard it before. Certainly not reading that whole thing on the bengals.

Worse than practice was his preseason game. "IF" what we have seen from Jimmy G is a sign of this season for Santa Clara, then they will have the #1 pick.

Tua?
