What do the billionaires have to do with this? This is a salary cap issue, not a billionaires issue. The more Zeke takes the less the rest of the team gets.
People are wanting their team to have the best players, not routing for the billionaires.

The overall discussion is about what you stated. You and Jarntt are taking it to me talking in general but I was talking to an individual person who comes from the line of thinking that when your boss says, “Jump” you say, “How high master”.
But what I’ve added more directly to the topic is that we look at it as entertainment and excitement and we want all our guys focused on winning a SB. I believe the vast majority of players want a SB too but they aren’t being greedy if the focus on the business side first and accumulate as much money as they can for themselves and their family. I just feel if the owner can tear up the contract, which is fine, the players can do what they need to do from their side of the table. It’s kind of like if you don’t perform “See ya” but if you overperform they can try to get more. Personally and strategically I think Zeke should have waited one more season but he didn’t. He wanted his guaranteed money now because I’m sure him and his agent think he is the best player on the entire team and also the best RB in the NFL. I support the players getting as much as they can because billions are being generated and if the player doesn’t get the money the owner does and I’d much rather Zeke get it then Jerry.

Problem right here is regardless if Jerry makes 50 Billion the SALARY CAP limits how much the players can get.

Oh,, and please remember the players agreed to the cap, and the cap is designed to help lower revenue teams compete with the HIGH revenue teams.

Do you honestly believe that Jerry wouldn't pay Zeke and a few other top notch players way north of the cap if he were allowed to do so. I'm guessing no cap means Rodgers would have been the Dallas QB years ago.

Yes Jerry would outspend everyone cause he’s passionate. I was more using his name as the boss vs worker debate. I understand the cap and not giving everyone record numbers. I’m just saying in the disbursement of money generated I’m for the players getting a large cut. Not saying they don’t now. But I never understood this greedy player thing. This is America and they have the right to go after as much as they can get. But in our economy the owner doesn’t just have to cave in to everyone. I just think it should be give and take from both sides. I just don’t begrudge the players. It sucks when your best player is holding out for more money cause we, as fans, don’t give a shit about their money... we just want our team to win. But when it comes down to business, “it is what it is”. If I was Zeke I would do the same thing.
Like the last labor negotiations the players were locked out and people were calling the players greedy and it made no sense. It would be like going to work and the owner locking all the doors with a note saying, “Go home” and then people calling you the greedy one. Both sides are greedy and that’s perfectly fine with me. I just don’t think it’s fair people only blame the players. All this is 50-50 and I’m all for Zeke trying to get every dollar he can and I’m also all for Jerry paying what he feels is appropriate for Zekes talent while taking into consideration the cap.

Read your own posts. You keep going on about the billionaire owners should pay more. Maybe the should but as long as the CBA is capped complaining about the owners is baseless.

Dallas, problem is if they pay Zeke, Dak, and Cooper top dollar, they are sure going to have to cut salary elsewhere. This is where you are failing to understand. Pay those 3 and another player loses out. Hell even paying them top 5 to 3 money another player will lose out. The TEAM is about 53 players not just a few.
I haven't overly bitched at Zeke for holding out, because I'm fine with it, but I want Dallas to hold tight and force him back on his contract or a very team friendly extension. I'm not going to cry if Zeke only gets a 5 year 10M per contract. If he gets that with say 25M guaranteed he's set for life unless he pisses it all away. Crying about a poor MILLIONAIRE is a bit silly, don't you think?

No I didn’t keep going on about the owners paying more. I never even mentioned once the owner should pay more. I said we, as fans, should understand its business and neither side is being greedy. Never once did I say the owners should pay more.

I completely understand Dallas has a lot of big money offers to fulfill. Never once did I say it’s only about 3 players and not the rest of the team. In fact I said the complete opposite. I said Zeke should try to get as much as he can and Jerry should be able to offer what he feels Zeke is worth while taking care of the cap too. I’m baffled at the things you are accusing me of because I said no such thing. I said the exact opposite in fact???

When did I cry about poor millionaires? That’s a 3rd thing you accused me of which I never even said. I don’t know where you are getting any of these arbitrary statements that I never said. I just said people shouldn’t call the players greedy for maximizing what they can get. Your response came way out of left field. I never even remotely said those things. I said the exact opposite. Literally shaking my head like, “Huuhhh?”

Zeke is going to get a more than 25 guaranteed and 10 million a year by the way. He’s the best RB in the NFL and he will get paid as that.

This is a quote by you ". I support the players getting as much as they can because billions are being generated and if the player doesn’t get the money the owner does and I’d much rather Zeke get it then Jerry."

Maybe I'm miss reading but I see Jerry "Owners" should get less, Zeke "Players" should get more.

Did you read the last sentence in the long post. I think Zeke should try and get the most he can and I also think Jerry should pay what he feels is appropriate while keeping in mind the salary cap.

The above quote you posted was talking about in general on who I personally feel should get the bigger slice of the pie. This Isn’t taking any CBA or cap agreements into consideration.
Totally different topic.

Took longer this time, but you finally moved the goal posts.

Why does every power ranking have Philly higher then Dallas?
Because power rankings are pretty meaningless. They all had Philly repeating last year in the East, too.

Take it up with the CBA which the players eagerly signed. They allowed the cap to be put into place and now the owners are able to pocket more money.

Isn't the next CBA coming up soon? I'm thinking first round rookie contracts has to be a topic of conversation.

If you start a certain amount of games in your first three years (combined), you get to negotiate an extension that fourth preseason...including offers from other teams. The Zeke amendment.

if I were either side I'd want to make it very simple: fully guarantee all contracts at signing like baseball does. Players are happy. To even that out for the owners, the penalties for not showing up for mandatory camp/practice/games is the remaining contract becomes non-guaranteed and for breaking the contract the entire season salary is forfeited along with pro-rated signing bonus.

The players get an ironclad money contract to plan their life around at signing and all they have to do is make sure they are either where they are supposed to be or in contact with the team to have permission if they are away. You know, like normal adults act in their place of work. Owners will hate fully guaranteeing money at first, but eventually they will grow to love it as they start giving out realistic contracts and not these "5/150M" contracts that really are year to year deals that offer no long term security for the players. The owners will have to regulate themselves. Maybe put in some NBA like "out provision" where every season a single contract can be terminated and the remaining cost stretched over a period of time, strictly for cap purposes.

If contracts become fully guaranteed they'll need to relieve dead money from the cap. I don't see it as an option team wise.

If the player breaches the contract they can be forced to pay back money they have already received(signing bonuses/contract restructures)
Yup and Zeke can be forced to do that for holding out. :noidea:
That's what I wrote and exactly my point. It in effect, is discipline.

Not that past performance on power rankings predicts future results, but what was the last year that you think the preseason favorite to win the NFC East actually did. Probably 10 years or so? I don't get hung up on other people's opinions especially when they are idiot media people that have proven to not know shit and especially when they are former players. I don't understand why you always point to internet opinion pieces as fact or meaningful to claim a win in a discussion..

IMO Philly SHOULD be the preseason favorite on paper and the betting favorite. But, if Dallas has health and Zeke is back I feel confident that they will win the East. Without Zeke and with health I think they still may win it. YMMV
