It honestly wouldn't surprise me to see one of these fart-nuggets create a "Tristan Thompson would be an All-Star in the 90s" thread

Oh no don't give wiggy any ideas!

In MJ's prime, in the playoffs, he was getting to the line 13 times a game and getting six assists or so a game and shooting 50%+ from 2pt territory. He has a real quickness to him where he could get to full speed in one step and then have full control over his shot in the next. MJ was built for the modern game. Yeah, he'd have to improve his 3pt shot a tad bit but he still could've reverted into Kobe if he needed to.

I do think if MJ and Lebron were in the same era, it would be a Magic vs Bird kind of debate. Lebron might have actually been even better if he was in the older era. I'd still take MJ but Lebron is going to go down as a top 4 player.

That's one of the issues I have with Jordan during the 90's. His rise coincided with the fall of Bird and Magic and he never really had a rival like Bird and Magic did. In today's game he would have Lebron, Kawhi, Curry, Durant, Harden, Giannis, etc., as potential rivals that would take away from his aura of invincibility putting him in the mix with the best but not necessarily above it.

Here’s a good question..

Who had better vision at PG? Steph Curry or John Stockton

@Bart this would be a better poll

I don't even think Curry is the best passer in the NBA right now.

In terms of purely being able to see plays before they develop in a sick ESP kind of way, it's Rubio or Rondo.

Pure PG has gone the way of the dodo bird and the Post Office.

I don't care which one is making them. But I'll take one with deli sliced rare roast beef, swiss cheese and some horseradish.

Some deviled egg potato salad on the side would be nice too.

:hungry:

I make all my sandwiches with Thousand Island Dressing.

Eh, not so sure
A big part of big, strong, fast is genetic. Otherwise every tall guy could just use modern advances and be an NBA level player

I'm not so sure either. You can help a turtle to walk faster but it still not beating a rabbit.

Nah, he would just have Lebron as a rival and the other guys would be the John Stockons, Gary Paytons, Clyde Drexlers, Reggie Millers and Patrick Ewings of the world.

No shit. But you said Jordan would struggle in todays nba because he wasnt a great 3 point shooter. Kobe did just fine with his 3 point shooting which is similar. Therefore, your idiotic premise is inaccurate. Derp city.

Would Kobe be the best, though, that's the real question in the thread.

Do you honestly think, being the player he was, that Jordan wouldn't have improved an aspect of his game if he really wanted to?

The fact remains that the 3 point shot wasn't as prevalent back in the 90s as it is now. There was no reason to change his game when he was already the best player in the league, winning MVPs and Championships left and right.

Put it this way, last season the Spurs took the least amount of 3 pointers per game at 24.8
Back in 2004-05, AFTER Jordan had retired, the Suns took the most 3 pointers per game at 23.9

League average for 3 point shots taken last season: 32.0
League average for 3 point shots taken in 1991 when the Bulls won their first title: 7.1

Hell of a difference. I mean, I can throw stats and numbers at you all day long if you want but it'll only prove my point further.

Why wouldn't Jordan want to improve all aspects of his game? He developed a fade away and used it frequently but you claim he wouldn't develop a 3 point shot, especially when he started to age and that would have an easier way to score points?

Again, his 3 point accuracy was more than fine for a player in his position at the time when he was in his prime. See post #383

Unless you're looking at and including his numbers when he was 38-40 years old to fit your narrative?

@Bart @lebron23james

Just admit you made this thread under the influence of PCP laced weed. We are happy people here at tHoop and we love a good meltdown, as well as you and you’re alt “teaming” up on MJ, but this is getting a little silly.

You're world is crashing down reading this thread...I love it.
