Now...as the salaries have increased to the top player, coaches are less inclined to expose starters to risk.

Jets' Gase blames self for Williamson's torn ACL

Whatever the Jets were projected to do this season...the DEF was going to be the catalyst, now down a key player who played 35+ snaps in a preseason game...so in years to come do you think Gase will play a key starter nearly as much?

Bottomline...back in the day, teams had more vet depth. Now, with the money being paid out to the top players, depth on most teams is a player on a rookie contract. Most HC are not going to put their top players in harms way any more than necessary to get ready for the season.

So do you blame the injury on the NFL or do you blame it on Those fucking Jets!

the preseason is not interesting for the fans but it is important for the teams to analyze players and determine their final roster. 4 games is probably too much. maybe 3 games would be enough.

Give me that 18 game season asap.

Remember the days when starters would play a series in the 1st game, 2 series or a quarter in the 2nd game, & close to half in the 3rd game?

Now these starters are usually sitting until the 3rd game of preseason
Preseason is good for rookies but the veterans don't need it.

Injury is part of the game so I wouldn't blame anyone...but if you can lessen the risks by playing your vet starters less in a game that means nothing, you do it...the avg game is what? 60 snaps...If I'm going to play my starters, 20 snaps is enough especially for a vet.....this guy played double that.

The pre-season is critical for both coaches and players. Coaches need to see the team (new and old players) in action and the players, especially the new ones see this as their chance to make the team.

So pre-season is vital but fans shouldn't have to pay full-price for the tickets!
