How would he accomplish this?

I think MJ already tried improving his 3 point game because he always had drive to be a complete player. It was a failure that's why he never shot the 3 as much.

At what point in his career did MJ actively try improving his 3 point game?

He was winning MVPs and championships left and right. Why change his game?

I think the game continuously evolves.

Each generation is better than the next.

I don't even think a guy like Oscar Robertson could play in today's NBA despite him being one of the best players of all time.

That said, Jordan wasn't that long ago, and he was an amazing athlete.

I think where he would really feel it is defensively. He'd be going from guarding guys like Adrian Dantley to Jason Tatum. Ouch.

That said, today's stars play no defense anyway.

Offensively, I think he'd be OK. I don't think he'd be the top player, but in the Top 20.

You do realise Jordan was one of the best defensive guards of all time, right? So how would he struggle on defense?

So you're picking some random players from the 80s and 90s and comparing them to the best guards of this era?

No matter what era you put that guy in it’s going to be others trying to adapt, not him.

How so? Running the triangle in this day and age wouldn't work to hide his play making inabilities. He would have to face legit elite defenders, not midgets like Dumars and Starks. Guys like PG, Kawhi, and Klay would shut Jordan down. ROFL...it's a new age a basketball. Jordan was good when the league was watered down from expansion and Larry and Magic were washed up. Jordan would be a slightly upgraded version of DeMar DeRozan.
Imagine Westbrook, but better, and making his entire team better.

When was Dantley a defensive player?!?

Are we going to compare Jerry Wests rebounds compared to Dennis Rodman next?

You also failed to mention had to guard players like Dumars, Payton, Stockton and Blaylock who are all better defenders than anyone in the league today.

But keep on making ridiculous comparisons.

I didn't say he wouldn't be good.

I just said he wouldn't be as effective defensively.

Name me one guard in the league today who is better at defense than MJ

How I would put it is like this ...

He used to shut guys down. Like I was a Pistons fan when I was a kid. If you put him on Isiah Thomas, he couldn't really score on him one on one. I mean he could, but he'd have to work really hard.

But he couldn't do that to Steph Curry. Curry could score on him. Too many moves and too good a shooter. And you have to guard him 27 feet away from the basket.

He wouldn't be guarding Steph. He'd be guarding Klay. And seeing as Klay is a catch and shoot players, MJ would have no problem guarding him. Klay would never have the space to get a shot off.

He'd also be guarding guys like Harden, DeRozan, Oladipo, Beal and Danny Green all of whom wouldn't be a single problem for Jordan

At the end of the game, he would have been.

He would start guarding Isiah at the end of the game.

That said, now I see why others are have made the point that this is a silly thread. There's really no way to discuss it without somebody saying "I'm right and you're wrong... because...I'm right"
