Who besides DTV and COX cable isn't getting CBS?

I had to watch the Cowboys game on Stream last night.

NFL has to tell CBS to get their shit together fast or risk breach of contract.

I was all prepared to watch on NFLN but CBS had the rights here and it's currently not on contract with DTV and COX.

I tried go over the air, and couldn't get CBS that way either.

Cowboys were on CBS and NFLN where I live. Why would a cable company drop a major network?

You can get CBS for free if you have antenna.

Its been 10 weeks here without Fox. Basically the local channel is owned by a huge conglomerate ( sinclair broadcasting ) who is trying to price gouge DTV on retransmission fees for a free channel .

CBS and DTV are fighting over money, and I couldn't get CBS over. I guess my cheap ass needs to buy a better antenna.

The first time I programmed it I got a scrambled CBS, I attempted 4 more reprogramming and damn antenna couldn't find CBS what so ever.

Yep...it's all about rights fees...CBS the national brand receives $ from each local CBS affiliate. Local affiliates get $ from cable companies and dish bundlers. When contracts run out and new ones can't be agreed on, that's how DTV or a cable company can lose a channel.

DirecTV had this happen with FOX a couple years ago as well. I don't have cable so not worried about it but still

Cowboys are not generally on CBS because the NFC is contracted to FOX. CBS has AFC rights.

Strange that CBS would be covering Dallas/San Francisco last week. You sure that they were on CBS???

Here they were on NFL only.

I think its 12 dollars a month on Dish to get your local 'free' channels(less with a bigger package, so they all want their cut), i'm sure all cable have to cough up some cash to them too.

I'm a cord-cutter, been using a digital antenna for the broadcast networks for a while now. I've learned that every year or so, they change something that affects how their towers send the signals, and also how the antennas pick the channels up. So you have to re-position/re-scan everything, every few months.

I still can't get NBC on the TV in my living room, because it faces away from their tower in Manhattan. You'd think I could get a damn signal living just across the river...no matter where I put that antenna, it will not pick up NBC. The set in my bedroom is on the other side of the house and it gets everything.

I've been 100% streaming for the last yr, and it's okay. Not perfect, but for $185 a mo savings...it's been more than worth it. Right now I have internet and a streaming bundler (YouTubeTV)...I still have way more channels than I use or want.

I could go direct, and get CBS, ABC, etc...not sure if I would save any money.

So I'm sure I c an Google this, but since you brought it up...
A bunch of my discounts expire in two months for my Verizon Fios bill. I assume I'll do the same old song and dance and threaten to cancel and they'll hook me up again. But, what really are the options. If I go to internet only and cancel the tv subscription how to I get: the major networks (I'm reading antennae isn't foolproof here), NFL Network, all of the Movie channels for streaming, things my son watches like Discovery/Science channel. I have netflix, I have apple tv, thinking of adding Hulu regardless of whether I switch. I'll buy what I need but want to know if I can get the channels.

My other issue is I never watch shows (other than sports) when they are actually on. I always DVR and watch later.

Can't get ABC on U-Verse... or NFL Network. Fuck cable companies.
