but let's put this in a way that most would understand...

is it a goal for a team with what most consider a contending roster to make the playoffs...?

I'd say the answer is yes...

A deep playoff run...?

I'd say even better...

a title...?

well, call me a homer, but yeah, #17 would look damn good imo...

just putting all that out there... :D

You think winning it all w/ their current roster is a realistic goal for next year? Because I don't.

@ChiefsLakers67 @trojanfan12 @shopson67

What do you guys think?

Yes, that was the entire point of getting lebron. Otherwise they should have just kept going with their young players and rebuilding. With GS 4 stars out, they have 2 superstars like every other team...You just setting the expectations low huh lol

It's championship or bust and most likely bust imho

Actually, yes. According to Vegas, they are behind only the Clippers right now as far as favorites to win it.

They have 2 of the top 5 players in the league and have put together what should be a much better overall roster than last year.

As much as missing the playoffs last year was good for him, I'm sure Lebron wasn't happy about it and will be looking to make up for that. So I expect he'll be looking to have a big year.

Obviously, they will need some things to go right for them. Lebron and AD both need to stay healthy, Boogie getting to, at least, 75-80% of what he was before the injuries would be huge, the role players will need to step up as well.

I'd like to see them add a wing defender, either before the season or at the trade deadline. Right now, comparing them to the Clips...the Lakers are the better offensive team, while the Clippers are the better defensive team. The difference between the defenses is greater than the difference between the offenses. So the Lakers need to shore up the defense some.

If you think it's title or bust for the Lakers this year w/ their current roster you're more full of shit than a clogged toilet.

Holy crap the Lakers now have the 2nd best chance @ the title according to Vegas? And I just told lebron23james he's more full of shit than clogged toilet for saying something like that. Oh well, I still won't apologize.

I wouldn't say championship or bust. There looks to be too much parity in the league for any team to be championship or bust this season.

But I think anything less than a WCF appearance could be considered a disappointment.

lol

That's what I've been seeing. Having said that, the odds are more spread out than they have been in years. There is no prohibitive favorite and if memory serves, there isn't a big difference between the top 5 favorites.

I think seeding may be more important this year than it has been in quite awhile. Which is going to be interesting considering teams will be looking to manage the load of some of their top players.

We know the Lakers are going to want limit Lebron as much as possible and the Clips will look to the same with Kawhi, etc.

With the WC being loaded as usual I think it'll make the regular season a bit more important than in the past. Like you said, seeding will be very important next season.

Yeah, it's funny. I don't know if he did it intentionally or not, but by choosing the Clips over the Lakers, he actually hurt his own chances at another ring.

Good on him, especially if it was intentional, because he made the league more competitive.

But when considering load management, etc. he made things harder on himself.

Great for the league though.

What's really disappointing for me is my hopes of the Lakers finishing 9th are more of a dream than anything else. Shame on the purple 'n gold for upgrading!

I look at it a little different than that re: the Celtics.

While I do enjoy when they are down. I usually want them to do just well enough to lose to the Lakers in the finals. lol

I agree, but when Lebron is on your team the expectations are always a lot higher

Cavs making the finals in his last year actually exceeded my expectations but people still expected him to lead them to a championship with just Love.

As long as the Lakers never win another title I'd be good w/ that.

No.

It is absolutely CHAMPIONSHIP OR BUST for the Clippers, Lakers and Sixers.

You don't make those type of future franchise altering moves and not consider the Season a failure if you don't win it all.

No excuses about.....We never been to the Conference finals...

It takes time to build chemistry...

We have to learn to play together....

We have to learn how to win.

Nah.

It's a failure.
