Great example is Nebraska . They e been pretty bad for awhile now and because they won 4 of their last 6 vs average to awful teams last year ( to finish 4-8 ( and return a good amount they're top 20?? How many other teams that went 4-8 last year are going to be ranked this preseason ? Does beating Bethune Cookman, Illinois , Minnesota and MSU mean you're back now ?? Lol

I agree 100% with what you said about the polls. Preseason ones I hate and agree it should be based on what you did this season hence why I’d want them after 6 games.

But since we have preseason rankings the Nebraska example I don’t agree with. If you look back at 2018 Nebraska, they literally had 5 games they could have won. They literally could have finished 9-3 and would have absolutely been ranked. Now they didn’t so it’s a fair point to bring up. But they return a lot from a team that had that potential. Also look at their 2019 schedule. It seriously looks like all their tough games are at home and their OOC isn’t too tough. That’s where I see the top 20 ranking coming from and why I think it’s fair.

I have Nebraska at 8-4/9-3 this year as well and I believe they'll be ranked at season end. However I'd like to see a team that went 4-8, 4-8 and 5-7 in 3 of the last 4 years earn it first . There are plenty of teams who didn't go 4-8 last year that lost a lot of close games . Iowa went 9-4 and lost 3 by 7 or less;and led the other with 1 minute left ( for example ... And to stir the pot lol )

I agree with you that they should earn it. But also I see the other side where it’s coming from of ranking Nebraska. Not sure what Iowa has returning (I believe a lot of D back) but their schedule looks a lot tougher. Going to Iowa State is no picnic (WVU experienced that last year) plus conference road games at Wisconsin, NW, Michigan and Nebraska. That’s a tough schedule and maybe in the thinking of not ranking Iowa.

Well that's the point . We don't really know if it's a tough schedule or if Nebraska's is easy or what . We are just guessing . Which is why preseason rankings are dumb .

Again, I agree on that. However we have preseason rankings so it is what it is. It’s at least worth discussing.

It's an interesting dichotomy because how do you rank teams preseason ? Do you rank them based on last year and what they return ? Do you look at the schedule and project ? How do you factor in new players ( transfers , freshman , redshirts )? How about coaching changes ? There are literally dozens of things we can't gauge because we haven't seen how they impact teams because they haven't played . It's honestly crazy lol

I think you have to use a combination of those things. Especially how last year went, what they return and what the schedule looks like. Those 3 factors should be the main factors. Of course coaching changes and transfers are a part of it too. It won’t always be perfect but using those factors there is atleast reason to why ranking someone. Again though, week 6 should have the first rankings.

Yeah I mean I know why they have preseason rankings for hype and what not but CFB is really the only sport where the rankings actually mean anything so its irresponsible but it isn't going anywhere

I’m just stating since they have them, that’s what they should use. But the hype factor definitely isn’t going to make it go anywhere. You are right about that.

I think we need Condoleezza Rice's opinion seeing how she attended a couple of Stanford games and that not only makes her an expert but good enough to put her on the CFP committee.

We’re you today’s years old when you accepted this?

As I said earlier, I drank for over two straight months on my day of acceptance.
I’m a Detroit Lions fan. You think suckiness is your ally? You merely adopted the suck. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the mediocrity until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!
