Backfield touches gained and lost in 2019

32. Philadelphia Eagles (-185)

Notable additions: Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders
Notable losses: Nick Foles, Jay Ajayi, Darren Sproles

Breakdown: The Eagles added Howard in a trade with the Bears, but his role in the offense took a massive hit when the team drafted Sanders. Assistant head coach Duce Staley has said that a committee approach is likely, so fantasy fans shouldn't expect a true featured runner in this situation. Sanders is the clear back to target due to his upside, but he's no more than a No. 3 option for fantasy purposes due to the crowded RB room. Howard will be a late-round choice, while Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement won't be picked in most drafts.

I disagree with that take entirely. Howard a late round pick?
Howard is going to get fed and they'll work in Sanders. Sure Sanders has the upside if he takes over the backfield in a dominate kareem hunt type way. But early in the season, when you are judging return on your draft investments, Howard will be the one producing

gonna be an interesting one to see how it all shakes out

Howard got ran out of CHI, but maybe Nagy was right about him?
Or could Sanders be just OK and not good enough to steal the lion's share?

made the mistake of buying into the Eagles backfield before, I prob avoid this time around.

Finished a redraft couple of days ago. Montgomery went in the 4th, Howard 10th.

The rookie fever is upon us !!. .... agree with Monkey - will just likely avoid the entire mess unless one falls so far the value is apparent.

Doug Pederson wants to run the ball.
The offense should be pretty successful.
That should lead to plenty of RB points going around.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

Ok I'm bias.
I like Nagy. Good play caller. But how can the old, predictable John Fox get more out of Howard? Doesn't make sense. Unless the truth is the way Nagy used the o line - forcing Howard to make his own yardage - he needed a RB that was less old school?

Montgomery in the 2nd? Damn...

After Ware got hurt Kareem Hunt was going at the end of the 2nd round in good leagues.

Nagy doesn't have Andy's track record, but Montgomery is more polished than Hunt was.

Which backs on an inside track to 250 touches are you taking later than the 2nd?

Same question to you, which backs with an inside track to 250+ touches are you taking later than the 2nd?
I don't really expect RBs after the first 2 rounds to get 250 touches in FF. I don't necessarily expect some drafted in the second round to get that many touches either in FF. That's because those 250 touch guys fly off the board from the get go.

However a SEahawk back could maybe do that.

If I had to guess, I'd assume Fox is a better RB or OL coach than nagy, as you alluded to above.

And that's also what helped get him fired right? (Inability to get the offense rolling)

Exactly who I was thinking of as I scrolled thru the last few posts.

Carson or Ingram are both easily favored for 250 touches right now, think they are both 3rd/4th round types too, without looking at ADP
I see Carson and Penny getting 200 each. Penny will get too many touches for Carson to get 250.

Ingram could get 250, but Gus and the others could cut into that and the offense won't be that good overall.

I could see Peyton Barber getting 250 considering the competition, but who knows what a new coaching staff will think of the backfield.

250 isn't a magic number, I think Montgomery's usage and productivity will be higher than all those guys mentioned so far.
