Your failure is your lack of understanding that without bats to support a young and/or experienced staff, there’s no point in saying you’re trying to win a game. We must compete!
Your failure is to comprehend what I said.

Texas 25-year ARod contract didn’t hurt anyone.
ARod was a great player though; Harper is mediocre. I believe he has gotten worse with each passing year.

No, he isn't. He's been above average to great throughout his entire career.

And he got worse after his MVP season, and his stats have ticked upwards every season since.

LOL! You are just a fan boy so you have an excuse for your ignorance where Harper is concerned but what is the Phillies' front office excuse? They are supposed to be professionals and they got themselves stuck with this guy for 12 more years at an outrageous cost.

Average OPS+ = 100. Mediocre= average.

Go find all the years Bryce Harper's OPS+ has been less than 110 (which is still above average).

I'll wait.

You believe and stated clearly that the FO is incompetent and has mismanaged the Phils, and you arrive at these judgements early in the season and at a time following injuries to relievers Morgan and Robertson, and OF McCutchen, all factors in Phils current woes.

You give no credit to the FO for improving the offense which was vital as any sane person would agree. They did not ignore pitching, having picked up Arietta (after Corbin was signed early by the Nats) and reliever Robertson. You never mention which pitchers they might have signed nor any bats that would have aided the Phillies offense, and you ignore all stats. You cannot be taken seriously.

Arietta 6-6, 4.12
Corbin 6-5, 3.90

McCutchen
April .247/.376
May .282/.393

LOL. You're not even a Phillies fan, know zilch about the team's needs, and you ignore all performance stats that might help you see the light. Even SF wanted Harper.

2019
Nobody On - .156/.284/.268
Runners On - .361/.445/.692
RISP - .394/.494/.682
Overall .251/.365/.467

OPS is nonsense. production is what counts and you don't pay a guy 350 mil to hit .245 with 13 homeruns in a band box

Every player hits higher with men on base. Its much easier to hit that way. He has never been a winner.

I'll give you your point about hitting jvett and the braindead FO addressed that with the three signings you've mentioned but hitting isn't going to continually bail-out a weak and lame pitching staff especially when they can get paid by behaving like the Dildoes. When McCutcheon went down, the attitude towards the season in the clubhouse tanked as well. Realmuto sort of died along with Cutch's injury.

I have been yelling all season to sign Kuechel and some other FA pitchers that don't need sent-down and could have helped our weak bullpen immediately. This FO failed to do anything and we have paid for it with two major losing streaks Couple these factors with a joke of a manager and you have many of the reasons we have had two major losing streaks since Cutch's injury.

I have provided a list of 25 FA pitchers they could have brought in any a number of them to improve the pitching woes. Many of these guys have ERAs below 2. See for yourself.

Somewhat meaningless stat. Every? Nope. And how much higher, the real, value stat. And how many players hit .361 runners on, and .394 RISP? Nobody on the Giants which is why their in last place. The best on the Phillies.

I would have expected a more recent FA list. This damn thing is a year old. Phillies did get Arietta and Neshek on the list. This year’s list included Corbin who would have been a good selection for the Phillies. Look at the clowns on the 2019 list. SPs at the end.

2018-19 free agents, position by position

Half are 34 and older. A few of the top guys, Eovaldi and Annibal Sanchez have high ERAs and sure glad Klentak didn’t waste a minute on those freaks. I’ll stick The four key guys in the lineup we signed any day who are on the field daily, and go with Jake, Nola, and the best of the four young stud starters who will mature with experience and may surprise.

Another very interesting Harper split, high leverage (when the hitter has the greatest chance to affect the game's outcome);
.386/.444/.825
. 10 doubles and 5 HRs in 57 ABs.
Another good one, 2 outs and RISP;
.440/.563/.800
. This stuff is just nuts!!

Unfortunately BBRef also shows that Bryce is nearly helpless against what it considers to be a power pitcher.

They know we need another starter. A lefty would help. Soon?
