Dude, no kidding. His laugh sounds so forced and over exaggerated. I worked with a guy like that and I couldn't fucking stand it. Whenever I'd make a joke that wasn't very funny or just deserved a charity chuckle, he'd let out a loud/ridiculous laugh like what Goldsmith does.

It could just be me but every time he has been on air I've observed it seems the other people in the booth aren't all that found of him and there is a serious lack of chemistry.

I don't know why but I've always been really critical of broadcast teams irrespective of the sport or team. I probably bitch about play-by-play/commentary more than anything else when watching sports, mostly with football though.

:pound:Misery loves company I guess. I was sure that I was the only one who thought those things of Goldsmith. I almost turned on the AM radio and turned the sound down on the TV...that's how much it bugs me.

I don't think we are going to see a post season team for a long long time. Sad, but I bet a lot of older fans won't live long enough to see the M's in a post season game. :L

2021 seems like a pipe dream but who knows at this point.

I don’t know, without the 13-2 start and not playing the Orioles, the M’s have the winning percentage for the number 2 pick.

M's need to do some serious losing cause they're still +8 better than the Royals, +13 ahead of the O's and +1 over the Pirates.

I feel decently confident they will be in play for the 2nd worst record. They can’t play the O’s the whole season. Sadly, that is the real pennant chase we will be shooting for and might keep fans interested.

There are some bad teams in the AL Central so the Royals could win a few more while Houston, Texas and Oakland takes care of their business against us. The O's they'll never catch with Boston, TB and NY feasting on them. I'll be good with the second worse record. It's sad we want our teams to lose but understand why. I went through a rebuild with the Sixers for 5 seasons.

Well no team I don’t think can beat Baltimore. They realistically have to be one of the worst MLB teams of all time, obviously I haven’t seen every terrible team in history but damn, I’m not even sure if they could win the AAA Championship.

I think a manager should be able to refer to his pitching coach to determine when the appropriate time is to pull the starter. I'm so far removed from this team that I don't even know who the pitching coach is nor how long his tenure has been.

I think new age analytics are ultimately a good thing but they shouldnt completely replace the eye test when you are watching a pitcher. Someone somewhere decided starting pitchers turn into pumpkins at 100 pitches. Why thats the number who knows, probably just because its a nice round number. I doubt there's data to actually suggest its any different then 95 or 105 or 108.

Regardless I think the eye test should be ultimately what determines your pitching moves. When watching Servais these last 4 years, I'm nearly convinced that Dipoto probably has a predetermined of when to make pitching moves and how long of a leash some guys have. Too often I have seen Servais unprepared and been a batter or two to early or too late when making a move. I wanna believe he actually adapts to the game but I honestly cant be convinced of that. Its too bad.

I was kind of ambivalent about him until I heard that broadcast he did on FOX with the Mariners-Angels game where he had that same exaggerated play calling whenever the Angels scored a run. Makes me feel all of his "excitement" is just acting.

But then again maybe I'm just jealous of his voice and hair.

As sad is it is to say, I hope you're right. We've got some serious contention for a high draft pick. With the Blue Jays and O's going to continue getting beat up by the Yanks, Red Sox and Rays it's going to be difficult to even hit #3. Then you have the Tigers and Royals also with a much worse record than the Mariners.

I'm hoping that Leake gets traded sooner rather than later so that Felix can take his spot in the rotation and lose us some more games.

God how pathetic that is to say. I think I threw up a little bit in my mouth typing that up.

What a surprise!! M's are 7-1 over the brewers in the 5th. Kinda wasn't expecting to see the M's leading Milwaukie :noidea: Not complaining but just didn't see that coming is all. Oops Grandal just got a bomb so now it's 7-2. Still, the brewers have a much better record though.

I get a kick out the game thread this season. It's the first time I can remember between SportsHoopla and the old CBS boards where hardly anyone is posting, or for that matter, even watching the games. Not blaming anybody cuz the M's games aren't a priority for me. I just happen to have the DVR set to record all the games so I usually catch at least some of the game, either live or fast forwarded recording.

I am kinda surprised because the Brewers had a pitcher on the mound that was killing it this season.

Either Vogel with another HR bomb and Santana with another RBI and Crawford with a triple. These guys are having a great month

The Brewers took a huge step back this year and it's Ben Gamels' fault.

BTW, I'm at a point where idgaf about this team anymore and I just want to troll them.

I hope Crawford is someone they decide to keep... 1 or 2 years from now.

Too soon to declare Dipoto the winner of this trade, but I like what I've been seeing of late.
June statistics:
Segura - 97 plate appearances, 9 runs scored, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 2 SB, .213/.260/.404/.665/72
Crawford - 52 plate appearances, 8 runs scored, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 1 SB, .314/.423/.503/.926/124

I'm seeing a pattern developing with my old buddy Scotty in the post game-he seems to be hatless when the M's win and when they lose, he wears his hat pulled down on his face like a sad little kid would do. :pound:

Without question I think Jerry won most of the deals regardless because it dumped salary and got prospects who at least moved the needle. The Philly, the Mets, Milwaukee and Tampa were wins as of now and most likely regardless if they pan out. The M’s are the deepest farm system in baseball when it comes to the OF now. The Yankees one though I think he massively undersold on for Paxton but even a loss on that one isn’t terrible.

Paxton's trade value was held down because he is so damn fragile. He's been hurt again this year. And now at age 30, the 160 innings he achieved last year may end up being his career high. That being said, Sheffield's regression and Swanson, at age 25 still not being ready for the majors, have made this trade look like garbage.
