Wegmans Diet Cola for me (or Diet Dew occasionally). Virtually no diet soda aftertaste (makes me wonder if it's really diet). It's store branded and made in Canada (not sure of the company that actually makes it).

But why are they even making a big deal about their cap if they can go this route? Most of it was Woj too.

How are they matching that salary? They have no else to offer to match that salary.

Because a couple people reported the logistics of the trade under one specific scenario, and the rest of the media took it as gospel that that was THE way it would go down and ran with it.

that's exactly why I started my post with "there's a lot of misinformation".

If the Lakers don't get a max guy - which is honestly a good chance... then it doesn't much matter anyway.

I love the fans of every sport who scratch their bellies, sip their Mountain Dew, and type about how easy it is to run a sports franchise. This also occurs regarding being CEO of a Fortune 500 company, being president of the US, or managing a bullpen.
I will say the idea a fan could make a better pick or picks in the NBA or NFL draft is not crazy at all. My only issue with those making this claim is all they'd be doing is guessing or going by what they hear on ESPN. It's not like they base their choice on extensive film study or from talking to the player.

No kidding. But it tastes way better than water, and I don't drink coffee so that's my caffeine fix. Also I drink both.
Used to hate all diet drinks but can tolerate them now. I like diet snapple.

Really liked Pepsi Next but they got rid of it. Guess I was the only one

Then how would they make better picks?

I haven't can a can of pop (yeah that's right, anyone that calls it soda is wrong) since I was in HS. Almost 30 years ago. That garbage is nasty.
Used to be all I would drink for the most part through HS. As mentioned, liked the Pepsi Next. Now it's few and far between for me.

I don't even remember what brand the last pop I drank was it was so long ago.

They are luckier than the pros?
Not sure we are talking about the same thing but if we are talking about fans who would have made better picks than the guys who were actually taken for their teams then, yes, it was because they got lucky.

I just mean fans think they can do better than the pros, but unless you think it's all luck then they really can't.

think we are on same page. They might take a guy who would have been the better pick than their team actually took, but it was either luck or them going by what others told them.....doubt it was film study or conversations with the player(s).

Lakers reportedly ‘confident’ they can get max cap space for free agency if they need it

Much of last week was occupied by analysts questioning whether Pelinka, in his zeal to complete the Davis deal, had overlooked certain nuances of the salary cap and made it more difficult to create space for another max player. But sources said the Lakers remain confident they can get close enough to the roughly $32 million needed to sign a player like Irving or Kemba Walker to a max deal — by dumping the contracts of Moe Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones — if they get a commitment from a top-tier player.

Previously, it was difficult to see why the Pelicans would agree to help a team they own virtually all of the future picks for create a superteam, but reasons for them to help the Lakers while also benefitting themselves seem to have surfaced:

If the Pelicans choose to fold their Anthony Davis trade with the Lakers and their trade of Solomon Hill with the Hawks into one, they can create a $27.1M trade exception, which they could bypass in favor of $30M+ cap room.

if they get a commitment from a top-tier player.

Thats the key. What I was saying yesterday.

IF they do, there are plenty of paths to make max space happen alongside the AD deal.

My personal ranking of who I would hope the Lakers could get

1) Kemba
2) Jimmy
3) Kyrie
4) D-Lo
5) Kawhi

But right now none of them seem all that likely. D-lo might be the most likely if the Nets sign Kyrie and denounce his rights making him an UFA
