When conference realignment started UCONN just went to a BCS bowl game.

The problem is CT isn't considered a big market.

the big10 taking Rutgers over UConn was killer, and who knows what Louisville did to slide in over UConn at the very last second a few years ago.

The Rutgers move was a good one.

Alumni of B1G schools gladly will pay Rutgers season ticket holders to see their school squash Rutgers by 50 points. And there seems to be more Michigan grads here than there are in the state of Michigan.

Admittedly, you guys could have been Louisville.

The B10 could've been beating UConn by 50 too....

Yea, but would anybody pay to see it?

I mean UConn pulls Hartford, Fairfield county (one of the richest areas in the country) And. NEw York city.

Who cares about jersey?

Alot of rumblings this morning that UConn is headed back to the Big East. Would obviously be a great move for basketball.

This is a awful idea! First off that state is MAJOR BROKE!! noone wants to go there anymore!
They should try and get Syracuse to rejoin.

So...UCONN will be the only public university in the Big East, correct? Was that the case before?

Without making this thread political, we're extremely broke...just raised or created a bunch of taxes and to top it all off they want to bring back tolls against the wishes of pretty much everyone. So of course UCONN drank a gallon of stupid juice and rejoined the Big East. CT land of the stupid people!!

Basically all this.

The state is going down. Just a matter when, not if.

So are you going to stick it out for the long haul with UCONN? I'm ready to bail but I want to see the ridiculous reaction rom the Boneyard when they trot out the "football plan" before I decide.

What do you mean? Like am I considering not rooting for UConn basketball? Never.

I grew up less than 20 minutes from campus. They’re ingrained with me.

Football, well I can always root for someone else for football. I’m not buying they’re throwing football away....yet.

Pittsburgh was public.

The original members or at least what is considered the OG members are...

Villanova
UConn
Pitt
Syracuse
Georgetown
Seton Hall
St Johns
Providence
Boston College

So really, we've got 6 of the original 9 and who gives a shit about Boston College really, so yea, good stuff...

Probably is a good move for UConn to get back to playing their old rivals, less travel too

I'd imagine their football program gets booted from the American, they're so bad at football there's no point

really their only hope is if the Mac decides to make this an opportunity to expand to the Northeast and add both them and UMass

UCONN would be better off going independent in football ( like BYU ) imo . Easier to raise your profile doing that and could set up a move to a P5 in both sports down the line . But great news on the CBB front . BE should've grabbed Cincy too but baby steps

It is getting more doable to do so now, because there's quite a few independents these days. I'm sure Idaho feels stupid for not trying it now

Honestly I don't see a scenario where UConn football becomes good, but they can at least stay afloat and support the basketball program.

I don't think Cincy would make the move, yes basketball is their primary sport but they're big on football too

The Mac already had UMass, didn’t they?

They did, mainly to partner with Temple. Temple left for the American and the Mac dealt with a few awkward years of 13 teams before finally deciding to dump them. With another partner available to bring them to 14 teams again in football they might be willing to go for it

Essentially, yeah. Although, I was specifically talking about the athletic department as a whole.

UConn is too much in my blood.

I’m shocked that Benedict is in on this. I thought his hire was to prop up football, and now this...

Although this hangs on Susan and warde more than Benedict.

The only UCONN team I won't quit is the baseball team. Although I don't see how the NBE is an upgrade over the AAC.

I like Hurley. I like Geno. Those programs have hope.

Penders is a good coach too. It kills me I wasn’t good enough to play for him
