Matthew Stafford played with “broken bones” in back

Whether you like the guy or not. One thing not in dispute is his stuffness.

What was the other one I sorta remember.

didnt he dislocate his shoulder or something. Call a timeout so he can get back on the field & score the winning TD? Or something close to that.

No wonder he's been such a disappointment. Zero perspective.

Way to tough it out for a few games & f**k your entire career up, Matt. :thumb:

Ask Alex Smith how playing hurt early on worked out for his arm strength.

I really dont blame him. His coaching staff should be like corner men in boxing. Their job should be to protect the player from himself. Players job is wanting to compete.

The coaching staff can only do so much. He's the one who feels the pain, and those aren't bruised ribs he's playing with.

It's his own responsibility to take care of his health, and he's clearly not living up to his potential. Maybe because he went all Kevin Durant on us (and not for a championship).

One helluva take you've got here...

Not to mention, I must have missed where he compromised his future.

Which is it? Are players pussies nowadays? Or are they too macho and need to know when to take their foot off of the pedal?

Is players resting when they are capable of playing a result of a pussified generation? Or are they dumb for playing hurt because they think they can help the team?

I thought Nolan Ryan throwing 210 pitches in a meaningless regular season game was a demonstration toughness that we can't find in today's players? I thought Jack Youngblood playing in THE PRO BOWL with a broken leg was the kind of grit we desperately need back?

I can't keep up anymore...

On what planet does playing in the NFL with a broken back and a dislocated shoulder not have any long-term effects? :what:

I don't know to whom you're responding, but claiming players should play a f**king game and jeopardize their careers (and possibly set themselves up for a lifetime of pain and disability) is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of. There's nothing wrong with that if that's what they want to do with their lives, but an early-20s player would be wise to listen to a decrepit, old ex-player on pain pills & ask what he thinks.

Did Nolan Ryan play with a dislocated shoulder? And broken legs heal up perfectly fine. Shoulder sockets & vertebrae don't.

Did you really expect Philly to be Pittsburgh tough?

I ain't from Detroit, so few shits gibben...but I'd be interested to know what actual Lions fans think of this.

I mean, even when he was 100% healthy, he hasn't led them to any great success

These stories of broken backs ... Not sure I believe Carr, Gronk, and now Stafford played with it. Meh.

Doesn't seem too wise . Now if he had but his back out then played like Ronnie Lott did with his finger you'd have a real story
