the difference between Eloy and Vlad Jr is that the latter is two years younger, which makes it a little more impressive he's outhitting him (at least in OPS+). Neither of them are lighting the world on fire at the plate.

Well, at least this nonsense has been put to bed.

Eloy has arrived in the world... and he is setting it ablaze.

It’s been put to bed because the guy had a two homer game? Lmao

He has 5 HR's in less than a week... and over a two week span he's hitting over .300 with a .1000+ OPS.

Vlad is not outhitting Eloy Jiminez. That is my only point.

He actually still is out hitting Jimenez by OPS+ which is what you quoted

Uh... lol... Please... point out where I ever quoted "OPS+"

Oh, and look. Eloy's first AB? 111 MPH line drive off the top of the wall through a downpour.

I’d say re read the post of navaminds that you quoted

And the fact that you yourself just said to me “Vlad is not out hitting Jimenez”

When nava very clearly said that in terms of OPS+

Yes, but I never used OPS+ as a metric...

All I ever said is that Eloy is outhitting Vlad right now and he is. My main point of contention was also with the fact that Eloy HAS been "setting the world on fire" over the past week.

He is also likely out performing him by the way of OPS+ over the span I cited, if you really want to get technical. However, you're the one who made this conversation combative... so... I really don't give a shit. Go fight with yourself dude.

Stop trying so hard. I'm having fun with my team. Seriously, is this your thing or something? Lol

Holy meltdown.

All i did was point out your incorrect statement.

And “getting technical” wouldn’t be cherry picking a stretch of games to fit your argument.

I get it, when your team is trash you gotta find something to hang on to. But the level of defensiveness is a little disturbed

Oh gawd... lol. Spare me the proverbial "lol meltdown" shtick. What is this? Your first time trolling on the internet?

Just calm down, sir.

And “getting technical” wouldn’t be cherry picking a stretch of games to fit your argument.

Yes, it would. As that stretch and what both hitters are doing "right now" is all I was ever referring to.

Quite clearly, in my reply to Nava and ever since I have been referring to how the two are hitting at this current time. I would not dispute that there are metrics with which Vlad is outperforming Eloy on the season.

All i did was point out your incorrect statement

Actually, you haven't pointed out where I ever referred to OPS+

But whatever gets you through the night my man.

Of course, my team hasn't been in contention for the post-season in 6 seasons. Total trash. It's fun that we have some talented young players again, are showing progress and winning our share of games.

That World Series you guys won during the grunge music era was cool, though. :D:thumb:

Joking, joking... Anyway... You guys have a helluva team this season and it's been fun to watch you guys hit. I have no energy for disagreements like this anymore. Good luck, I shall continue stacking your team's lineup on FanDuel.

you should never expect a 20-year-old to play at an All-Star level immediately. but the difference between Eloy and Vlad Jr is that the latter is two years younger, which makes it a little more impressive he's outhitting him (at least in OPS+). Neither of them are lighting the world on fire at the plate, but I wouldn't say they're embarrassing themselves either given how young they are.

Vlad Jr. does have a pretty impressive K% (18.8%) for a 20-year-old rookie.

But if I could choose any player in baseball, I'd choose Mookie every time. His off years (2017, 2019) are still all star worthy because the bar he's set is so high.

I'd take Mike Trout. His off years are like Betts' best years.

Trout's had an off year?

Yeah, twice.

In 2012 & 2014, he only OPS+'ed 168.

Of course, in those two "off years," he was a 2-time All-Star, 2-time Silver Slugger, Rookie of the Year, AL MVP runner up and AL MVP.

But I understand that you're a social justice warrior so you'd prefer Betts because he's blick.

Tatis has been great so far, but his numbers are propped up by a .424 BABIP. I think he's going to be a great player, but I think his line is going to come back down to earth.

Yeah it's tough to expect Tatis Jr to keep an OPS near or over 1.000 especially when he's had some good BABIP luck. His defensive ability, offensive potential, and personality on and off the field make him a lot of fun to watch, bright future for him and hopefully his team.
