I didn't think the movie was near as good as the book which is one of my favorites.

I think other combinations like:

The Godfather
Lord of the Rings

are much better imo.

The TV mini-series couldn't hope to capture all the elements of the book, and it didn't come close, IMO.

But, they're gonna try again, on CBS all access. Not sure if that means they can give it the true R rated treatment the subject matter deserves.

Re: King-I thought the movie Shawshank Redemption was better than the novella it was based on.

Also, The Green Mile wasn't as good as the book(s), but it was pretty close.

My biggest disappointment book to movie was Enders Game . Such a great book and the movie was abysmal

I would love for someone to take a crack at The Talisman but if probably be equally disappointed by that

It definitely deserves an R Rated Treatment! It's just not for kids.. Looking forward to it.

Keeping it to books I've read: The Harry Potter series.

New Moon, Eclipse, & Breaking Dawn (though the movie was way better than the book).

Wanted, the only time I have endorsed a film that butchered the source material.

And The Godfather, another case of the movie being better than the book.
