Someone tell me if this game is any good please? Someone else who couldn't NOT drop 60 buck on it to tell us if its any good?

It looks like a GREAT tide me over until TLoU 2 comes out, but not sure....

Anyone?

theboardref mentioned that he is really frustrated with the controls in the 'apocalypse burnout' thread. It sounded like he was returning it. Not sure what his opinion is a couple of days later.

Its the first outright negative thing I've heard about the game, though. I'm hearing from lots of people online that its alright and some even really like it.

I personally cant justify buying it when I didnt beat Assassin Creed Odyssey or RDR2.

Man I am massively disappointed. I highly recommend renting at red box for a few bucks then decide from there. Would wait for a massive sale, I can’t recommend buying it at this point in time.

I kept it because I will have a lot of time to kill this summer. Been coaching haven’t put in a ton of hours. Considering this game came out over a week ago and I haven’t put in 10 hours speaks volumes of how I feel about this game. Great idea but failed execution due to pathetic controls.

Alright fellas, after deliberating I finally decided to give it another shot. It is actually a pretty solid title if you can get over the gun play. I think they may have fixed it some in patches. I also have a stronger gun, so that helps. Hordes are damn difficult for me personally though. Story is pretty compelling. It is out for 40 bucks now, if you ever saw Walking Dead and thought, ‘man I wish I could play this in a game’ I recommend it.

It seems to have done well despite the mediocre reviews. I might try it out if it goes down to $20.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through God of War and I still have to get through Spider-man before trying something like Days Gone.

Definitely worth 20.

Has anyone played/ beaten it? I have a theory I am dying to discuss with someone but it doesn't seem like anyone played much less beat it on this game.

Last year, I found this thing called Twich where people stream their games as they play them (I know it's been around a long time). Anyway, its a great place to go to see games played. Helps you make up your mind on new purchases.

I've completed it with 100% completion. Whatcha got?
I haven’t seen many discussions online pertaining to this game, but something I took away was that Colonel Garret and Dr. Jiminez were lovers. Again it was obviously never explicitly stated, but there is that moment when Jiminez wants to go on a run and Garret tells him no. Now while this alone isn’t proof, he keeps telling him how he means too much.

Also, once Jiminez is murdered, it is almost like he loses onto the one relationship tethering him to any type of future human relationships and he gives in to his dark side. He raids camps etc, as a way for him to mentally get back at this world that took the last person he loved.

Also is there a cut scene at 100% completion? I finished all the story stuff and hordes and am not a collectibles guy.

I am not a fan of Twitch. Never understood the appeal of watching other people play a game. I will say if you are trying to decide if you want a game it is a solid tool. I do enjoy watching reviews by Angry Joe and The Angry Video Game Nerd.

Only scene I know of post completion is the one with the government guy that helps you throughout the game. He has a pretty massive reveal if you haven't done it yet. It appears as a side mission after an hour or so of completing the main campaign. As for your Garret/Jiminez theory, it is definitely an interesting one. It makes it even more complicated that he quotes the bible and appears very religious throughout his storyline. Kinda like the members of the clergy in real life who end up being gay and trying to fight their feelings. You could definitely be onto something with that though.

Another thing that stands out is while he is a religious nut, he never asks anyone to hide being homosexual. He said something along the lines of,” we accept you as you are, whether you are gay, straight, bisexual, transgender. You cannot control the way God made you. What we won’t accept are: druggies, murderers, thieves, and rapist.”

Because he never comes out and condemns being homosexual despite being one of these religious nuts leads me to think either one of two things. Either he has drawn a line in the sand and said, ‘ya know, lets not freak out over deviant behavior and unite with anyone regardless of gender’. Or options two, he himself is a homosexual.

I lean towards two because given the information we know, it just makes sense. If he ‘changed’ after the apocalypse in being accepting of all genders, why would being a drug user be on a list of condemned behaviors? The reason I say this is they fall under the line of deviancy while murder and r*pe are inherently evil.

Also, find it ironic how Garrett died in a similar fashion to Hitler. In a bunker, away from everyone else. Guarantee that was somewhat intentional.

Twitch is the tits. I've been using Twitch for test drive review for years. I even sub to a couple of content creators.

He was by far one of the most complex video game characters I've come across in a long time. You wanted to ride with him early and slowly you see his descent into madness. I don't know what reviewers were thinking with this game, I absolutely loved it and it has been my favorite Sony exclusive this gen.

Apparently reviewers kind of crushed it, but average joe loved it. I loved this game, which is saying something if you see my original take. You have got to pump in a few hours to build up your bike and get a better gun.

Picked it up two weeks ago on the cheap, enjoying it. The hordes are some of the best things in video games and the only thing that makes this game unique. Not much of a fan of the skills, the game is good and worth a play with no replay value.

I enjoyed it after giving it a chance but you have to be willing to sink at least 2-3 hours into being skilled enough to take on hoards.
