All 3 have a chance to be really good pots.

I think Reddish has the highest ceiling of the bunch and Hunter is the safest with the least upside.

I understand why he gets Kawhi comparisons. Everything from his demeanor to his style of play reminds of Kawhi. But he is not Kawhi.

Hunter is going to be that 3rd or 4th starter type on a good team. 3 and D defender with a little bit of offensive game when needed. I have a hard time seeing Hunter develop into an all star though. And i watched every one of his games at UVA.

I agree with most of this but I think Culver is just getting started. He is still growing. I think he can be an AS maybe even a star. Reddish is the riskies but could be return the most reward. I think overall Culver could be least riskiest but also a could have high potential. Hunter, I liked him more but now I think it will just be a meh pick. Still think he will just be a solid player though.

Agree.

Culver might be the best draft pick of them all.

I don't think he is nearly as safe as Hunter, but he combines a pretty high ceiling with a reasonably high floor.

I don't think there are many Reddish outcomes that would surprise me.

All that said, nobody thought Kawhi would become the player he is now either. When he was drafted, he was a limited offensive player but strong defender. They both played about the same number of games and played 2 seasons in college, although Kawhi was a starter as a freshman, where Hunter was not. Here are their final year stats:

Kawhi: 36 g, 32.6 m, 15.5 ppg on 13.2 att and .444/.291/.759, 10.6 reb, 2.5 ast, 1.4 stl, 0.6 blk, 2.1 to, 2.5 pf
Hunter: 38 g, 32.5 m, 15.2 ppg on 10.4 att and .520/.438/.783, 5.1 reb, 2.0 ast, 0.6 stl, 0.6 blk, 1.4 to, 2.0 pf

Hunter played a much stronger strength of schedule (10.15 vs 6.36), was the more efficient scorer, but far less well-rounded (Kawhi the more aggressive rebounder and defender). They had similar WS/40 ratings (Kawhi .231, Hunter .237, average .100). Their plus/minus shows where they made their impact:

Kawhi: 3.9 OPBM, 5.2 DPBM, 9.1 BPM (total)
Hunter: 7.3 OPBM, 3.6 DPBM, 10.9 BPM (total)

Kawhi couldn't even shoot the 3 coming out of college. Hunter shot a very high percentage-low number of shots. He is already more developed than Kawhi was offensively but that doesn't always mean high ceiling. I still like Hunter though. I wouldn't be upset if the Cavs took him, I still like Culver the most but either way they need another wing.

It's just hard to compare anyone to Kawhi, especially coming out of college. His growth as a player was unexpected to say the least.

I agree.

But there is a reason his growth was unexpected.

He hit a 1 in a million player development curve.

Can't project that for anybody.

Hunter projects to be the same player Kawhi projected to be. Just don't assume the same development because it is extremely unlikely.

I think Hunter is better from an offensive perspective than Kawhi was though already. It will be interesting to see how he ends up.

He is more skilled.

Not the raw athlete Kawhi was.

Yeah but they both played 2 years. Hunter actually only started one year for UVA

Hunter red shirted though.

Also, he was UVA's best player last year too.

Only Tony Bennett would hold a player like Hunter out of the starting 5 in favor of Isaiah Wilkins.

All true.

ESPN's hit piece cosigns everything you just posted.

But, we can't say we didn't see this cockup coming.

Some highlights...

The roots of the issues between Harden and Paul, according to team sources, are differences in preferred playing styles and personality.

“Chris wants to coach James,” says a source familiar with the stars’ dynamic. “James looks at him like, ‘You can’t even beat your man. Just shut up and watch me.'”

The prevailing belief in Houston — and hope, certainly — is that the tension between the Rockets’ stars isn’t atypical for the NBA and can be managed. And that’s a must, given the unlikelihood of getting equal basketball value for the 34-year-old Paul in a trade, considering he is owed $124 million over the final three years of his contract.

Harden, by nature, tends to avoid conflict but was pushed hard enough to snap back at Paul from time to time. That’s what happened during the Rockets’ elimination loss, when, team sources said, Harden told Paul he didn’t always know best and had talked too much. “Chris has a personality where he just doesn’t let anything go,” a team source says. “He just keeps pestering and pestering and pestering and pestering. Sometimes James has had enough — and not just him. That’s what makes [Paul] a winner and also what keeps him from being a big-time winner. He’s got to temper that.

Fertitta has grumbled about Paul’s contract, expressing regrets to Rockets staffers and even in front of rival executives, according to league sources.

I read the ESPN piece. After studying it and mulling it over in combination with events in years past, I came to a conclusion. You guys, you're not gonna believe it, but I think Chris Paul might be an asshole

Might not be the popular opinion, but I really like Coby White for the Cavs. Just the type of young college prospect that would do well with continued development under John Beilein.

And let's face it, Jordan Clarkson and Brandon Knight aren't long-term solutions for them at the two-guard spot...

Why would they be? They're PGs essentially.

Celtics speculation:
I don't think the C's would trade Jaylen Brown in this context, but that Memphis pick plus might/could be on the table... if such would be enough.

Seems like the C's should do something... the 3 mediocre 1st's they have don't really move the dial for this team.

The correct answer is let al walk.

Clark at 14, and okeke at 22 and figure out what to do with 20. Cam Johnson to replace Morris.

Figure out pg in fa. Even if it’s a stop gap.
