I can't recall if I ever noticed a really bad camera angle before but I sure did notice it on the drive of Koepka's on 18.

Remember Rory's drive on 18 at the Players with the water on the left. 18 is an beautiful hole.
Now check out this perfect camera angle for this shot.

This is the angle that fox gave us for Kopka's drive on 18...(not the actual shot)
Now you could give thew a pass on this until you see the 18th hole at pebble

To shows Koepka's drive like that on a hole like this is ridiculous.

Did everybody get that camera angle?

I'm assuming fox shows it the same way for everyone.

I think it was the drone camera (There were a lot of drone shots for this event) that was supposed to show
the grand view from behind Koepka. I'm positive there was a problem giving us that view ..confusion in media truck,
or that could not get the drone over there or something.

The drive for Koepka on 18 (par 5) had huge implications.

If you are talking about the crowd - excuse me gallery - at the venue - agree. Last week on Golf Channel they showed a replay of the 2000 US Open where Tiger won. Same exact venue as this one yet the crowd was completely different.

During that entire 2000 rd I only heard 1 or 2 instances of someone saying "Get in the Hole" & never heard any other chants (e.g. "Baba Boey"). The entire crowd was pretty much totally silent even shortly after each shot, Obviously you didn't have people taking pictures via cell phones so that wasn't a factor.

I just don't understand the motivation of some of these idiots in the crowd. Are they just totally drunk, idiotic or just dying to have someone hear their voice on TV? The worst was over the weekend while a player (forgot who) was trying to read his putt & someone yelled at "It is not as straight as it looks". WTF?

That's what I was referring to and I think it was Rose who was putting that one. It's annoying enough when they do it when they're teeing off but at the green? Really? If you want to shout do it after everybody's done putting.

I think for most of them, it's to get their voice on TV saying something clever -- which they will probably brag about for the next 20 years. Some great life achievement, huh?

At one point when Rory teed off, somebody yelled "The King in the North!"

Yes...well done, drunken frat boy...well done.

Great showing by Woodland. I didn't think there was any way he'd hang in there.. and what a shot on 17. A 90' chip and run, off of a tight lie, up & over a hump, with a 64' under that kind of pressure? That showed some real class.

It's become much more prominent the past couple of years and it sucks... drunk, attentions whores with their "Hey, look at meee !!!" outbursts. Unfortunately, I think it's just something we're going to have to get used to.

It's childish as shit, but whatever reason a select few just keep wanting to put their stamp on these tournaments...no doubt they're taping it go home and here over and over I guess,

It's time to start tossing these asswipes out of tournaments.

It's what I call the "Tiger Atmosphere"

Tiger made golf cool.(for some) And after his 2000 season, the crowds got bigger & bigger.
But it got bigger with young male, baseball, football hockey fans.

And a lot of the yahoo's stayed into golf even if Tiger was there or not.

The problem is the PGA, & the networks love this "Tiger Atmosphere" ...they feel it helps keep it exciting.
Why else would they not do a single thing to curb it?

Watch the Master's ...you can tell right off the bat the "patrons" there know to keep a lid on it.
There is still some "get in the hole" yells at Augusta but it's much more subdued.

Hats off to GW for fending off the best in the world the last few days of the open. Dude had a lead and he kept it with solid play.

Brooks showed why he’s still the best in the world as well.

A great win for Woodland and he deserved it as he kept his composure.

Yeah, it seems to have started at the Phoenix Open, that tournament gets so rowdy. I get that it may make the event a tad more exciting, but for the non-superstar guys who are just trying to sink a putt on an adjacent hole, it's probably really old by now.

That was awesome. Can't believe someone outplayed and was more aggressive today than Koepka.

Usually there's one defining shot to win a tournament. Gary had two amazing ones today.
Koepka has got to be kicking himself for his poor play on the par 5s throughout the tournament. That cost him a victory. I believe he made only two birdies out of the 12 par 5s. Inexplicable, but that's why they play the tournament.

Actually I thought the birdie/no birdie from Koepka on 14 turned it firmly back in Woodland's favor, and the final dagger was the pitch from the green on 17 to gimme range...18 he had a 2 shot lead...just don't put it in the ocean and it was his.

I was disappointed in Rory and Rose's play Sunday.
I think it was Koepka's failure on the par 5s throughout the tournament that did him in. Didn't take advantage of those holes at all. I know he didn't birdie any par 5s on Sunday, didn't birdie 18 even once during the tournament. He had only two birides on the 12 par 5s if I recall correctly. Can't do that and expect to win.

Fox/USGA...They're improving...the camera work especially. the announcing team doesn't bother me as much as others, but what little audio I did listen to...Buck is not a natural at golf and Zinger's content is not bad imo, but delivery is just so blah. Not every lead sports guy is going to be good at sport, and that's the case here. Nantz is probably the best. Personnel wise they need to keep working on that.

USGA setup...They basically grew the rough and got out of the way. The weather helped keep the greens receptive imo...-13 won it which could make some in Far Hills, NJ uncomfortable, but they need to get over it. In this era of reducing par 5 holes, kudos to them for keeping it a par 71.

Final round...With Rory, Rose, and Koepka, all top level players in the hunt on a course that was 6800 yds and giving up 66-67. I was expecting some fireworks early on the easier holes but Rose/Rory both shoot over par, and Koepka did create a little drama early, but getting a little wild off the tee seal his fate...the one par save from the junk was awesome...maybe more luck than skill since the approach was blind but an all world par. It eventually caught up with him on 14....par there and Woodland making birdie on it gave him slightly more cushion.
Seemed the bad par on 6 unnerved him. He parred an easy 7th hole missing a short putt and followed with a lucky bogey on 8. Started 4 under on the first 5 holes and then never made another birdie. He also was 1 for 6 on sand saves for the week I believe. He needs to work on that. That's unacceptable even for a muddle of the pack Tour player.

I prefer to call it the 'social media' atmosphere. Everybody wants a platform nowadays to express themseves....no matter how ridiculous it is. I'm in full agreement to tossing these guys out.....I don't want every tournament to turn into the Waste Management out in Ariz.

Thanks for the clarification. Identifying someone yelling during a tee shot may be tough, but it may be easier to identify someone yelling prior to that putt. That is certainly a case where that clown should be tossed ASAP. What a stupid thing to yell out during the latter stages of a huge tourney.

Actually in hindsight, his 68 on Sunday beats everyone else (but Woodland) by at least 3 strokes.

You're right in that the par 5s killed his chances...the hole I thought would keep some real pressure on Woodland was 14...a 4 there and he's only one back.

At the end of the day...Woodland was the better player this week.
