So who gets the blame if there is a first round knock out for the Lakers?

And why has there been a sudden suspension of the "Lakers front office is the worst in the league " chants since this trade?

This one thing trade changes that whole narrative?

.

Well yeah.

At least for now.

If they go ahead and use their cap space to resign Rondo and KCP, then I am pretty sure you will hear a lot more about how bad their front office is.

For now though, they made a very good move and have 2 superstars.

I guess nobody ever blamed the Lakers F.O for loosing Nance, Clarkson, Randle, Lopez and Zubac for nothing in return in the first place, so there will be nobody to blame again...

Especially after they had some return on AD for the remaining of their core and their present and future picks...

A true circus by the definition of the word...

All of the players you lists (except ZUBac) had to go for the Lakers to preserve cap space. They don't have LeBron and AD right now if they had those players.

And Zubac is not good. A misfit for the modern era of the NBA.

Sure... it's was best to stretch Deng's contract than use one (or two the most) out of the ones that they lost for nothing to get rid of it...
... that created plenty of cap space... LOL..

They have been run like a dumpster fire for the last 6-7 years or so. Impossible to argue that. Especially after the Magic/Pelinka saga.

It will all be forgotten if they can put a solid core around LeBron and AD.

But if they fail with those two?

Haters will be out in full force.

And by failing, I mean an early exit.

why anyone would even bother giving us a hard time for ditching Zubac boggles my mind...

meant the last couple of days specifically, coach, but I totally agree with you...

the fact that we were a literal mess recently is undeniable. but hey, sometimes you fall into a bucket of shit and somehow come up smelling like a rose. hoping this is one of those times...

Deng's contract was a lot worse that what you claim.

CLarkson did not have much trade value because he was overpaid given his one dimensional skillset. Brolo only had value as an expiring contract. Yes, the Lakers should have resigned him last year, but he was not a trade asset when they had him.

Randle and a pick could have maybe allowed the Lakers to get away from Deng, but then maybe they don't have the assets to consummate the AD trade.

The Deng/Mozgov signings were arguably the worst tandem signings of all time and the team is still feeling the effect. Stretching Deng was a fine solution. They might not have Lebron without making that move.

Ok... if that is what is bothering you (including Zubac 1.5M) in the list... then take wipe that out... Deng's 6M are still on the books and the rest were still wasted for nothing because Lebron needed them with the Cavs...

Bucks thank you for Lopez, Pels thank you for Randle in addition!

This is why people who rail against the importance of a big market are fools.

Despite mismanagement, the Knicks and Lakers are 1 and 2 in terms of franchise valuation. Both have horrendous ownership groups, yet both teams are highly relevant in free agency every summer because of the market and the franchise status.

Lakers have a lot of possible pathways to contention that most franchises don't.

No wonder one whould conclude that you are mentally unstable if you keep posting answers that contradict by definition with your argument...

I fully agree with the above I quote on by the way...

LMAO "bothering me"? hell, I was GLAD they got rid of him...

LeBron "released them to the Cavs"...?

huh, wasn't aware that he had the power to do that...ESPECIALLY considering they were gone before he got here...

CLEARLY someone is still living with conspiracy theories in his head...

First off,

You can't be calling anybody anything right now given how heinously terrible your hot takes have been.

Second, my point doesn't contradict anything.

The goal in LA was always to land 2 superstars.

They did that.

The pieces you mention don't have nearly the trade value you think they did. But that isn't surprising given your ridiculous positions on some other trade ideas around the NBA.

Take away the Mozgov and Deng contracts and they have a lot more to play with. But that is revisionist history. Lakers have done well so far this summer and deserve to be commended.

Clarkson and Nance were traded to the CAVs for nothing and no reason whatso ever... they surrounded (departing to the Lakers) Lebron until the 2018 finals and are still with the Cavs...

If they would have been used to move Deng's contract instead... the Lakers could have even obtained a pick in return...

Outside of injury, that's simply not gonna happen.

AD is tremendously good, and getting those superstars in place is the tough part. All the Lakers have to do now is not fall flat on their face when it comes to the relatively easy part: rounding out their roster with complementary players.

Well... the Lakers needed this, and they got it. Keeping Kuzma was a nice touch, but those long term pick swaps are ominous down the line.

Anywho: doesn't matter, they are living for today... and they have to capitalize on the initial score of adding old man James. Getting AD is huge.

By all outside appearances, they are still a mess of a front office. But they have prestige and they have LeBron, so they kinda have their own gravity now which is regardless of whoever their GM or team president is.

Yeah AD and Lebron alone can carry them to the conference finals with decent role players. If they were to somehow get nice fits alongside them plus an AS type of player than they are automatically contenders to win it all, maybe favs in the West until KD and Klay get healthy. I don't think some people realize giving up 3 nice players for a star...most or all of the time that deal is worth it. AD alongside Lebron becomes arguably the best duo in the NBA...2 top 5 players. The only other team that has that is the Warriors. Now the Lakers just have to find pieces around these guys, shooters especially, maybe another AS type of player (not a max guy).
