Yeah...Kuzma aint going anywhere

Yea

I just can't imagine being lined up for a Max contract and being a douche over four million bucks potentially costing your new team a max player

I see Kemba is willing to take below max. Dude won in college maybe he takes a little less to get competitive

The most important thing the Lakers can do as soon as the trade is completed is get Lebron, AD, Rob Pelinka and Coach Vogel in a room and work out a game plan for the season.

Ask the players who they want in free agency and how they want to play.

I see that he was playing at an all star level when the blood clot thing happened.

He’s a black hole and not good enough on a contender to demand the ball that much. Lakers weren’t a very good team during that time either.

Sixers don't really have much to say about it. I'm not sure what the Lakers plan is though? Do they have a top target, or list, or do they go smaller pieces?

What do you mean the Sixers don't have much say in it? They have more say it in that the Lakers since they can offer more years and more money per year than the Lakers can for Butler.

Or is this one of those "Everyone wants to play for the Lakers" arguments?

Lakers Finally Land 2nd Star in Anthony Davis, but What Comes Next for LA?

Good info regarding the Lakers cap situation. Some quick hit tldr stuff:

-The July 30th issue is a combo that has to do with signing drafted players and cap space for free agency. When they sign the contract, they can't be traded for 30 days. If they Lakers sign the player that's taken at 4 and wait to trade for Davis until July 30th, they'll have rough 32 mil to sign free agents when free agency opens. This make it easier to sign Walker or Butler or another max player.

-If the trade happens on July 6th, when the league year becomes open and all transactions are made official, the Lakers will have 23 mil or 27 mil depending on if Davis waives his trade bonus. This is under the 30 mil needed to acquire another max level free agent.

-There's still paths to get to 30 mil if the trade goes down early but it requires trading away Wagner/Bonga and pretty much everyone not named Lebron/Davis/Kuzma. Even with that, they may end up a few thousand short depending on what the official salary cap number is slated at.

There appears to be some confusion as to when the deal will take place. Right now it appears the Pels sources are all saying it was agreed to be July 6th and the Lakers are like :noidea:. This is pure speculation on my part but it sounds like Pelinka didn't do his homework about being adamant the trade take place later in order to maximize the Lakers chances in free agency. This is what I was referencing in one of my posts on the first page. The sequencing of the events matters a lot and you really hurt yourself if you screw it up.

More clarification on the picks the Pels are getting. It's not "unprotected pick in 24 and a swap 25". It's "unprotected pick in 24 with the option to defer to 25"

People are under the impression we have to offer a max contract or it's a bust.

Even $23m is more than enough to build a team around Lebron, AD and Kuz

Heck, guys like Kyrie or Kemba might even take a discount.

Gonna be an interesting July

I dont think anyone said they are a bust. They got AD. That was the MAIN goal bc you have that star player after Lebron but has been talked about for over a year the plan was another max player so it would be disappointing I’m sure but they can still get a good group around those two and be contenders. You never know anyway, if a star player really like say Kyrie, maybe not him, leaves that much on the table the C’s could give him he could take less to win. Depending on what happens they could still have around $28M.

Lakers might pursue Lopez. To me it could be a really nice fit.

Maybe they will bring back DLo and Lopez lolzzz

They can fill out the team just fine with role players in the 23 to 27 mil range, but there's no effing way Kyrie or Kemba or Butler or whoever are gonna take pay cuts to fit under that range, especially if its 23 mil. A max level guy would taking a roughly 10 mil per year pay cut to fit in at that number. The 27 mil number it gets more possible but "more possible" here only means like a 2% chance or less because they'd still be passing up several millions of dollars year over year.
