Meltzer says there are a lot of wrestlers hoping to jump to AEW when their contracts expire. One of the best aspects of the Monday night wars was wondering which stars show up on which show so it'd be exciting to see that return to wrestling....

A Lot Of WWE Talent Are Reportedly Reaching Out To AEW - Wrestling Inc.

I hope they can snatch up a couple of bigger (as in size) guys because most of AEW's roster is actually pretty small. It's like 80% junior heavyweights. Would love to see a guy like Rusev go there

Rusev is always the first guy I think of when rumors start about wrestlers waiting out their WWE contract.

He got the best crowd reaction at WM 34, got in insane physical shape and yet they did nothing with his momentum outside of a one month fued with Styles where he tapped out clean at the PPV.

If AEW takes off as a viable 2nd option you know WWE's not going to book like that anymore.

Braun Strowman and Elias also got themselves insanely over and......NOTHING.

Its like you get punished for getting over on your own.

It's why WWE is in the spot they are now with ratings going trending down for the long run and why there's an appetite for AEW to begin with. They'll have guys get themselves over and be hot, but they won't pull the trigger on them and embrace them being big stars. Instead, they'll try to pigeonhole something else. Fans get burned out seeing people they like not going anywhere so their attitude just turns to apathy and they stop tuning in. Then they'll panic because the ratings will drop, abandon any long term plans or promising fresh faces, and insert some former big name or gimmick in to spike a rating but its nothing but a short term fix. They're right back at the same problem within a few weeks.

AEW CEO Tony Khan went on Stone Cold's podcast and here's some useful knowledge that came from it (entire thing is worth listening to if you've got the time)

-Fyter Fest will have a 1 hr preshow on Youtube. FF is free on B/R Live as reported earlier

-The July show, Fight For The Fallen, will also be free on B/R Live

-The TV show will kick off with a large tag team tournament that will ultimately crown the tag champions. I don't think he means the entire first show is nothing but a tournament, but that its the first night of said tournament.

-All Out at the end of August will be the final show before the TV show launches. Still no date announced for the TV show, but it will be a live 2 hr show that will tour across the country

The most interesting part of the interview was when Khan said Jericho was flown in to the All In event on Kahn's private Jet.
That show was billed as completely a Rhodes/Bucks investment but the fact that Khan was already helping out on that show makes you wonder if he was a silent investor or perhaps the show was even a trial run for the AEW concept. To be less conspiratorial it's also possible that he became interested in starting the group after seeing how quickly the show sold out but before the actual event date.

According to Meltzer the plan right now is for the first show to air 10/2 from 8-10 PM est.

They still haven't scheduled a show in the north east so I'm guessing this is either going to be in NY or Philly market.

Actually nevermind the sponsorship deal. I'm looking at their Twitter feed and they do this kind of stuff all the time.

Yeah. Arby's and Wendy's twitter accounts are heavy into pop culture in general. They rather frequently post wrestling related material.

Fyter Fest was a pretty solid show, especially for a free show. A lot of the comedy fell flat (they really need to drop the Librarian stuff), but most of the matches were entertaining. First time seeing Private Party and Darby Allin and I came away impressed by both (think PP could stand to bulk up a little though). I'm not a fan of Janela, but I enjoyed him and Moxley's match. Then the post match with Omega was good follow up from DoN to set up All Out

I missed the show but the highlights from Darby Allin's match were ridiculous. He's absolutely fearless.

Tye Dillinger never did much for me in the WWE so I think the heel turn and character reboot was a good idea.

Main event was trash. It’s called garbage wrestling for a reason. Magically having barbed wire boards under the ring is ridiculous. I’m for heated fighting and weapons when a big feud calls for it but this didn’t work for me. I think Janela is terrible.

The CZW style of wrestling has always been trash and and will always be trash. Sad to see that Moxley has resorted back to his carnie backyard wrestling days he was doing before he signed with WWE.

No need to think. Janela is terrible. He's like Mick Foley if Mick didn't have any charm or personality that made him endearing as a performer. So basically, he's just a dude that does crazy shit and big bumps because that's all he can do.

This felt like a legit superstar in the ring with a jabroni. Janela is about 500 levels below Moxley and there was a lot of work to do to make this feel like a real contest and they didn’t really do it.

True. But I thought it was fine for what it was. Moxley likes doing this type of stuff. Throw him a bone and get it out of the way on a free show before your bigger dates with All Out and the TV debut a couple months from now.
