My goodness, do we play bad baseball versus Washington and Anibal Sanchez or what? Utterly pitiful the way we've played vs them in all three games.

I do not presume that much will change tonight with Banuelos pitching against Corbin. Moncada also day-to-day with upper back tightness. How lovely...

At least people don't seem worried about Moncada. Including Moncada... Seems like it's merely a precautionary opportunity to give him back-to-back days rest with the off day tomorrow.

‎June‎ ‎11‎ ‎4‎:‎46‎ ‎PM ET
Moncada (back) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.
ANALYSIS:

Moncada didn't appear to be particularly worried about the upper-back tightness that forced him to leave Monday's contest, but he'll sit for at least one game. The White Sox have an off day Wednesday, so he'll wind up getting at least two days to rest. Jose Rondon starts at third base.

So what are peoples' thoughts on White Sox All Stars this year?

While Giolito, McCann, Abreu, Anderson, and Moncada are all deserving, we all know the Sox will probably get one selection, maybe two max.

I personally think Giolito will end up being the only Sox representative at the ASG, but hope I'm wrong. Abreu was third in AL 1B voting as of yesterday I believe.

loving what i'm seeing from jimenez. seems to be developing exactly how we'd hoped.

Yeah, his swing and timing at the major league level are really beginning to come together. I can't wait to see what he's going to look like this time next season.

Not everyone is going to come up to the Major Leagues and burst onto the scene like Hoskins, Soto, Sanchez or Correa. The development between him, Moncada and Giolito this season has been very promising. Tim Anderson as well.

Overall, things at the major league level are going well in the developmental department. What a twist!

Next up is Cease... who is still struggling to get his command down consistently at the AAA level. Nevertheless, many people still can't believe he hasn't been called up... Personally, I think that rushing Cease is pointless. He doesn't suddenly make this team a legit contender. Hell, he could be no better than Nova or Banuelos right now. He's only been in AAA for 2.5 months. Let him get his mechanics down a bit more.

Abreu no way. Giolito almost a lock unless he completely implodes in June. Anderson and Moncada are maybes. Still lots of games left to see who's worthy

Believe it or not. It looks like Abreu has a real good shot at getting the nod.

Moncada is at 8th among 3rd baseman in voting, which is a complete and utter joke. So, he has next to zero shot.

If the AS game was today, I don't see how Abreu would be left off the squad. He likely won't get voted in, but how do you leave someone who's tied for the AL RBI lead off the roster? While others on the team deserve to be at least in the conversation for making the squad - I'm thinking Moncada, Anderson, Colome, and McCann here - I'm going with Giolito and Abreu to represent the Sox in this summer's classic.

McCann is the second most deserving guy on the roster behind Giolito, IMO. He is so far superior to Sanchez and his offensive output is not far behind. However, Sanchez being a Yankee... plus the HR total. It renders it near impossible to beat him. However, McCann should still go as the 2nd catcher. I think they carry two, right?

i could easily see abreu not going. 6 other first basemen have a better ops (some much better), 7 others have a higher average, 9 others have a better war, 12 others have more walks, only 1 other has more k's, he's a lousy glove PLUS ... he's on the white sox! don't think none of this could count against him. he's lucky he's had men on base to get him those rbi.

i think gio is the only sox picked.

I agree with you, if I was ranking who SHOULD be the one to be selected after Gio, it would be McCann, plus I think Gio would love for him to be his catcher, assuming of course he gets into the game, which at this point is looking to be a certainty. Probably not as the starter, but a great chance at being the first pitcher in for replacement.

I get the other first basemen qualifications and I am definitely not predicting that Abreu is a lock to make it. But I'll say it again, if he's leading the league in ribbies at the time when the manager and coaching staff make their selections to fill out the roster, I think his chances of making the team are pretty good. And screw the defense part, he would most likely only appear as a pinch hitter anyway.

The reason I don't have his chances ranked as excellent? See my response to richi's post. The Sox will at most get two on the roster. We know one is Giolito. The other could very well be McCann. He is certainly deserving. I just don't know if he has enough of a 'rep' to be considered.

Logically, should he go? No, but I think LSD and I are looking at the current voting. The way it's structured this year is that the top 3 will move on from the primary voting to a final vote. Where the top two will get the nod (1 for DH and six for OF, I believe). Abreu is currently moving onto the final vote and is very close to Cron at the #2 spot.

FIRST BASE
1) Luke Voit, Yankees -- 393,356
2) C.J. Cron, Twins -- 302,586
3) Jose Abreu, White Sox 286,145
-------------------------------------------
4) Carlos Santana, Indians -- 250,615
5) Albert Pujols, Angels -- 192,816

CATCHER
1) Gary Sanchez, Yankees -- 737,107
2) James McCann, White Sox -- 289,475
3) Jason Castro, Twins -- 199,497
----------------------------------------------
4) Robinson Chirinos, Astros -- 197,976
5) Christian Vazquez, Red Sox -- 183,291

Surprising names start strong in AL Primary vote

Right now, McCann would be in as the 2nd backstop (if this were the final vote), Abreu knocking on the door for 2nd first baseman and Giolito should be a shoe-in for a SP spot. Anderson and Moncada are within striking distance to get into the final vote at 3rd and SS.

Great game tonight. Sox down 4-0 and come back to beat the Yankees. Impressive bullpen tonight. Bummer with first career save.

Giolito tomorrow.

This year's White Sox sure do tease us, don't they? Some days they have the look of a team that can play with any other in baseball. Then there are days when they remind us of last year's 100 loss season. Coming from behind against a definitive playoff club like the Yankees is no small feat. Now let's see if Giolito can get us to that ever-elusive .500 mark tonite.
