I'm going to make a case for Kittle. Here's a little something I nab from another site.

Most receiving yard ever in a season for a TE

-Most YAC in the NFL in 2018. First ever TE to do so.

-Most YAC by a TE ever

-49er's franchise record for yards in a season by a TE ever (only Rice and Owens had more receiving yards from ANY 49er)

-PFF overall grade of 89.8. Highest of all TE's (for those of you that put stock in PFF's metrics)

-2018 second team all pro (behind only Kelce as first teamer)

-2nd highest yards per route run behind only Julio Jones

-Highest yards per reception among TE's in 2018

-Most avoided tackles by a TE in 2018

Sky's the limit for him. In dynasty he's a slam dunk for me at his age vs the other two.

Thoughts?

3 problems i have with kittle and why i don't think he will surpass Kelce

1. new QB, dont say this is an advantage, it is not.... Sure the 49ers would rather have jimmy grapes as the qb, but if he truly is better, then he won't need the security blanket as much

2. Continuation of 1, but if the offense is better, then so will the running game, and that just takes the ball away from the passing game even more

3. still a continuation of 1, the receivers are better than last year too... and if they evolve, with the qb, the offense won't need to ONLY go to kittle....

as for Kelce, who i think keeps the throne, he has the better QB, a more high powered offense, History of success and an offense that Likely will lose its number one WR for a while...

I'll still take Kelce, although that depends on how far "beyond" we're talking. 4years or more, that might change.
Hesitant on Kittle as I feel, at least in part, that all those impressive numbers you posted were the result of a perfect storm of, A) being the only realistic passing game option available. B) having a collection of QB's dependant on security blankets, which, the TE position is famous for being. Yes he's gonna be a stud, yes he's likely a slam dunk to be top 3, but, duplicating, or even coming all that close to duplicating last season seems like a stretch. Doubtful JimmyG misses the entire season, which should result in a more spread target distribution outside the numbers, and the receiving corp, while still not great at all, should be improved at least.

If were talking extreme long term, I think it'll be Kittle, Njoku, Howard, Goedart

Kittle with Jimmy G at QB:

upload_2019-6-14_21-9-1.png

One dud the rest not shabby. I think they will build on that a lot.

Kelce 29
Ertz 28 (with another stud TE on the roster)
Kittle 25

I like Kittle chances to be the TE to own for dynasty

I see regression from George.

Kelce may benefit from a similar situation to GK's last year. He's #1 with a chance to be even more productive.

In yardage sure, but I bet he doubles his TDs this year (only had 5 last year). 12 deep passes last year but only 3 were catchable hopefully a better QB is able to nail them more often.

Still had had no other options...at some point, they'll get a decent collection, wether its the guys on the roster now, or guys they bring in next year

He had over a third of their receiving yards. Over a quarter of their receptions.

One teammate had more than 30 receptions last year.

He's a very talented player for sure, but I think we saw somewhat of a statistical perfect storm.

Dante Pettis is going to cut away at the targets and downfield looks imo.

Kittle. I see him becoming Gronk in SF's copy of the Pats offense.

And then I will kick myself for trading him. :heh::heh::heh:

So long as Reid is coach in KC, Kelce will be a main target. Especially with the Hunt/Hill upheaval. (Still not sure what happens with Hill.)

Seriously believe Kittle was the beneficiary of being the only healthy and consistent skill player for the Niners last year. Really don't feel Shanahan will keep him as the main focus of the offense since it's not in his history (until last season).

I traded for Kittle earlier this year (thanks Chef) but for this discussion, I take Kelce. Kittle may overtake Kelce but he hasn't at this time.

So Kelce would put up better numbers with Mahomes backup, following that line of thought. I don't think so.

He'd get more targets, more volume as the backup would be much less likely to push the ball outside the numbers. What he does with them? That's up for debate. Kittle definitely made the most of his opportunities while opposing D's were obviously geared to assume run with backup and 3rd string, undrafted QB's at the helm, rightly so given the Shanny system history of running commitment. Brilliant game planning on Shanny's part there

Kittle is good for dynasty but its hard to turn down Kelce as the #1 option with Reid and Mahomes at the wheel and Tyreek Hill's targets potentially up for grabs.

I don't know if its possible to be too high on Kelce next year

I mentioned Kittle being good for dynasty. Take Kelce for 2019 easy. Kittle over Kelce for dynasty but only because Kelce has had a concussion already.

Kelce almost 30, Kittle 25..sure it plays a factor, but unless your planning for more than 2-3 years ahead..a small factor. In which case grab Fant or Hockensin or Irv Smith as your #2
