My re-draft (injuries play a role)

1st - Jared Goff - yes you heard that right. He isn't the most talented in this draft but he is still a very good QB in this league and he led his team to the SB.

2nd - Ezekiel Elliott - I have to put Elliott above Dak, even though Dak has been a very nice surprise and is a great young QB. Imagine Zeke's numbers if Dak didn't steal some of his rushing TD's lol.

3rd - Dak Prescott - a great college player and he has been a very good pro so far. Would like to see more improvement this year, he has the team around him when they are healthy to contend.

4th - Michael Thomas - he has improved every single year. He is a machine. Some of the best hands in the NFL and big target for Brees.

5th - Jalen Ramsey - shutdown CB, All-Pro. Great player.

6th - Carson Wentz - he is the most talented QB in this draft class BUT if you can't stay healthy for the playoffs it does your team no good. Hopefully he can bounce back and stay healthy this year for his team.

7th - Joey Bosa - an great talent that is injury-prone. If he can stay healthy he can have a great impact on his team more than he already does. He can be dominant.

8th - Tyreek Hill - a great find in the last rounds by Dorsey. Phenomenal speed and a game-changer for Mahomes. We might not see much of him anymore but to this point he has been a great explosive weapon.
Except for Tyreek, this is a pretty solid 'up to this point' kind of list.

No way people should be taking Zeke over QBs, though. Zeke could be done in 6 years while these QBs could easily go another 12.

I'd be more shocked if Zeke was done in 6 years than Wentz.

But even if Zeke were to have a 10 year career and make an AP 4-5 times....Wentz cant stay healthy. I have Goff in front of him so that only leaves Dak. If Dak can't improve and flattens out there is no question Zeke is the better player. A QB is definitely more valuable than a RB...but Zeke is arguably the better player.

A re-do would be based on what players have done over 3 years and what is expected from year 4. In Smith's case that includes a whole year missed and without wishing to be disrespectful ILB is 1 of the less important player positions. Smith was a gamble that appears to have worked out for the Cowboys but in a re-do right now he wouldn't be top 20. In a year's time he might well be a top 20 pick. A year ago he wouldn't have been a top 75 pick.

I know, I was just commenting on your statement that the Cowboys had a good draft with Elliott/Prescott, and they also hit on Jaylon Smith from what it appears. Getting what appears to be 3 Pro Bowlers and maybe an All Pro every once in a while in the same draft is pretty damn good.

Just to be clear if Wentz were to stay healthy all year, have an amazing year and take his team to the playoffs and actually play he could move up to #1 or #2. That's how close these rankings are for me. Jmo

The thing that baffles me is that people seem to think that Dak's rookie season was some great magical season when the truth is it was not. The only reason it stands out is because he was a rookie putting up the best season any rookie QB has ever had.
:scratch::scratch::scratch:

So at least a little bit magical, yes?

It was special. Dak is a good QB. He will never win MVP but they don’t need him to. Very good line play on both sides. Fantastic LBers. All Pros all over that team. Great RB. Dallas is a very good team.

You're a moron. I rest my case.

I like how you cower to everyone else on here saying Dak is not an MVP caliber QB. He isn’t but that’s fine. The Cowboys are an extremely talented team with tons of fantastic players. They have the potential to have the best from 7, the best LB crew, the best run game, the best OLine. They have stars on every unit... RB, WR, OLine, DLine, LB and CB. Dak is a good QB. He has some special abilities. He just simply doesn’t have the arm talent to be an MVP.

For a rookie I guess you an say that......10-15 other QB's had a better year in 2016. Now Pat Mahomes performance as a 1st time starter.....that was magical.

Pretty much. The thing that baffles me is that people seem to think that Dak's rookie season was some great magical season when the truth is it was not. The only reason it stands out is because he was a rookie putting up the best season any rookie QB has ever had. If any other starting QB (besides another rookie) had put up those numbers everyone would have scoffed at the mention of said QB being an MVP candidate when if we are being honest those numbers are nothing more than game manager numbers. If we was to take a look at the performances of all the other QB in 2016 it could be said that 10 easily had better years and some could argue as high as 15.

Dak had the best year a rookie QB has ever had and it was impressive. However the best season ever by 1st year starter belongs to Mahomes. I give it as much weight as I do Dak's rookie season because it was only his second season in the NFL. His season not only goes down as the best 1st year starter but arguably one of the best of all time. The way I see it if Dak was a true MVP candidate he would have added to his legend with improvement not regression.

So Dak leading the Cowboys to the record they had that year had nothing to do with it either?

so much wrong with this thread...one say's it's cowboy homers, yet all I see is cowboy haters standing tall on the soap box

It was one guys opinion....like across the fields opinion...it has no more value than any other opinion.

still laughing at PE1 for saying never, as if he has a magic crystal 8 ball to predict the future

Fact is....Dak has been really good for his 3 years and being a 4th round pick makes it a bonus. The kid has the desire to get better like few others, a new QB coach working on his foot work and a new OC that will make this offense less predictable. Much to be excited about for Cowboy fans and the haters sure look nervous about all that.

To be honest I don't really see where you are going with the point. I guess that is why the whole 11 game statement confused me. Dak was considered as an MVP did not finish anywhere near the top in voting. He got three 5th place votes. He did win offensive rookie of the year an award he did not deserve IMO. Should have went to Zeke. But....... you are correct he was in the MVP consideration for 2016 never considered a favorite though.
hate to say it (well maybe not) but this post just proves your brethren wrong. Which is how this whole MVP BS got going in the 1st place. Thanks for clearing this up for PE1. he was in consideration. Whether anyone believes he should have been or not, is irrelevant to the point. Which was he is capable of being considered.

You're not just a moron for your Dak stance, you're a moron through and through.

This is the main point that these Cowboys fans don't get. He had a phenomenal year for a rookie. It was not an MVP caliber year, and he hasn't been able to even duplicate that quality of a year yet, let alone improve on it. Until he proves he can do that, he is not an MVP-caliber QB. It's just that simple.
