It’s cat kebobs. Try and follow.

It wasn’t “his alone”. The Raptors organization did more work than you’re crediting them. Leonard doesn’t win without Lowry. Without Gasol. Without Fred VanFleet

So Leonard should just retire cause he can’t have bigger fame? Brilliant

Who ever said that Leonard should retire? I said the clever think for him to do, is leave the Raptors for another destination...

Staying with the Raptors will add him nothing more than he already achieved, while if he goes and the Raps replace him (I have no idea with who) and fail next season, this will lift him further up despite if he wins with his new team or not (obviously even more so if he does win)...

It's a supported with reasoning argument... nothing more , nothing less, it's not kebobs in any case.

Kawhi gave the Raptors what they traded for, now he can leave.
He can go to the Sixers and win another Championship.

It surely is the smartest thing for him to do...

He now has a ring "All by himself" and nothing more to prove that will lift him further up if he stays with the Raps...

If he now goes to the Clippers, no matter who they land next to him, he will be No2...

The big question mark is what the Raptors do if he goes?

It was far from “all by himself”

He had 5 guys that averaged more than double digits. Siakam averaged 20, Lowry 16, VV 15....and they played great team defense. I still wouldnt be surprised if he leff though, what more is there to accomplish. One year, one title in Canada. He will get a statue even if he leaves

It wasn't all by himself.

But I would argue that he was carried more weight in winning that title for his team than any other since ... you could argue Dirk and the Mavs but could go all the way back to Jordan.

Correction, Basketball God.

He was fun to watch this post season. He was kinda "meh" in the Finals he won with Spurs and his game is much better. Guess that year and a half off helped his body. I"m expecting to see similar type of "comeback" from LeVeon Bell this football season.

Even if they improve the roster, what more prestige can this add to Kwahi?

He now is the only All Star that won a championship ALONE in 15 years.

Even if the Raptors could add another All Star next to him (which they cannot), that would cause him to look "smaller" than he now does...
Dirk?

Yeah Dirk I would say did more, he had some nice role players though but Dirk that year in the playoffs might be a top 3-5 performance of all-time. He was unstoppable. Kawhi has been great, especially defensively...didn't like how he basically didn't touch the ball in the 2nd half of Game 6 especially down the stretch but who gives a shit. Toronto has a ship.

He's going to be a Clipper. Pretty much set in stone for a year now. Raptors still gonna build a statue of the dude tho.

If he goes to the Clips voluntarily, he'll be the first star to do so. That's been the media narrative for quite a while, but at the same time they always note that nobody knows what he wants to do.

His statement last night that he wanted to celebrate, then think about free agency afterwards indicates to me that he is at least still on the fence to leave, if not leaning that way.

If he does, Toronto is pretty much stuck. They are currently $27M over the cap, so even if he leaves, there's no cap space. Gasol also has a player option, but he may not be able to get $25M on the open market. Lowry, VanVleet, and Ibaka are all expiring contracts, so the Raptors would likely be looking at a rebuild around VanVleet, Siakam and Anunoby.

Seeing as how they got a title out of it, I'd say that was worth it.

They could go Florida Marlins style and just sell off their roster...

It was definitely worth it, as they were topped out with DeRozan and were going to be faced with a potential rebuild soon anyway. If he stays it was an incredible trade of course. If not, still worthy for the championship year.

My opinion.... I think Kawhi leaves. He delivered a championship, what's the chances of them repeating? It was a magical year for Toronto, KL will forever be a hero and legend in that city. The fans will understand if he leaves for California( his home state). Then Toronto will try to replace him with a lesser star player, but it won't really work. I still think they're a playoff team next year, but more like 42-48 wins. But, Kawhi is a strange dude, so he just might stay!

More importantly, what's the difference between a Kebab and a Skewer ?

He now is the only All Star that won a championship ALONE in 15 years.

2011 33 year old Dirk (all star reserve) had no other all-star teammates that season in 2011.
The next allstar game for anyone else was 38 year old Jason Kidd 2 years earlier.

2014 32 year old Tony Parker (all star reserve) had no other all-star teammates in 2014.
The next allstar game for anyone else was 39 year old Tim Duncan a season earlier.

2019 27 year old Kawhi Leonard (all star starter) and 33 year old Lowry (all star reserve) were both current allstars.
The next allstar game for anyone else was 34 year old Marc Gasol 2 years earlier.

Toronto had more current and younger all-stars than the 2011 & 2014 teams.

Using all-star appearances is kind of flawed, since it’s basically a popularity contest. The 2014 team is an example, since nobody would argue that it was Tony Parker with no help. This year Kawhi had great help from Siakam and VanVleet, plus the expected production from Ibaka and Lowry. Heck, yesterday in the clinching game, Kawhi was Toronto's 3rd leading scorer.

If it were me, I’d leave and try to win another ring with another team.

Winning more with the Raptors can and will absolutely improve his status.

He has 2 rings. 1 when he was still an up and comer on the tail end of the Spurs dynasty. About where Siakam is now, Kawhi just happened to win Finals MVP because he played great and the big 3 had all declined a bit.

He was being compared to some ridiculous names like MJ during this run. But right now, he has 1 ring as an elite player.

I he can get another along with an MVP award or 2, whether in Toronto, LA, or anywhere else he will start cementing his leagacy among all time greats.

70+ games next year should make Kawhi front runner for the MVP. He can get there in Toronto. A lot more to gain if he keeps playing at the level he did this playoffs for the next few years.
