to measure accuracy? u may be right, what would u use

Some of the advanced statistic sites have started tracking catchable balls. Its still not a perfect stat because the receiver can be at fault if he runs the wrong route and the guy tracking the stat is making a judgement call, but its probably still the best option.

Not currently subscribed but the PFF QB Annual would have the info you're looking for though i'm pretty sure both of those guys would be near the bottom.

Here the PFF commercial for the annual it explains the accuracy stuff in the 2nd half of the vid they use Mahomes as their example.

Marino might be a bad example or an anomaly. I still have no clue why some of these other QBs were drafted ahead of him.

Way back then they werent as technical about the draft as they are now. This is my only guess.
If Marino & his physical abilites on top of being a bad ass lasted that long a lot of scouts might have been fired LOL.

He had a poor final college year, and allegations of drug use.

well it had to be something.
We skipped Randy Moss for questionable character issues. he made us pay everytime he played us in his professional career.

As stated earlier in this thread, completion percentage with so many teams now throwing short as a form of the running game seems to be a bad measuring stick for accuracy. I know back in the day when QB's threw the football much more down the field it was always based on the footwork. Most college QB's didn't have that training and footwork always mentioned as why and guy was or wasn't accurate with the football. To this day, Roger Staubach talks about that being the most important aspect to his development as a Pro.

Regardless, Allen and Jackson are inaccurate, short, medium and far

Ultimately completion % is important but really all a QB can do is throw a good pass . He cant catch it too . My guess without looking is the same guys in the top 5-10 for on target passes are the same guys youd rank as the best QBd right now . Probably close to the order you'd put them in too

you most likely are right here...I was just responding to the thread title.

I think many QB's accuracy got better in the Pros.....which, T thought was the point to this thread :noidea:

Sure there's always outliers but instinct top 5 is Brees, Brady , Rodgers, Ryan , Rivers. Maybe a guy like Smith sneaks in there but id be shocked if the top 5 were much different from that
