According to Overthecp.com, PIT is $1.2 million under the cap as of now. Of course Brown's $19 mil dead money is adding to a fairly healthy $26.6 mil in overall dead money is a big part of the reason.

While we can't rely on a website 100%, but they're probably not far off if they're off at all.

So...I was reading what I thought was more of click bait article suggesting Haden could be released. That got me looking at the roster and who might get cut and I came up with these notable names.

Artie Burns...cap hit....$3.0 mil...cap savings after dead money...$1.7 mil...I think it's win the starting job (highly unlikely) or be cut.

Dan McCullers...cap hit...$1.1...$1.0 saved...I think if Buggs shows them he can give them a few snaps as a run stopping NT big Dan will be gone.

X Grimble...cap hit...$2.0...saved $2.0...I know he's the TE2 and V Mac is not the most reliable health wise, but $2 mil is lot to invest in Grimble...if ANY of the TEs in camp look like they can handle the load, Xman is gone.

That's $6 mil in cap savings...Grimble is probably a reach, but I don't see how they could release Haden even if his $11.9 cap hit is awful high at his age....I can see them actually extend him to get that CH down if the were desperate.

Thoughts?

Artie Burns.......
How is this useless putz still on this team???? Cut him quick.

Eli Rogers........
He had a flash here and there, but I'm thinking he won't amount to much of anything in the future.

Grimble......
Don't see a reason to keep him around, plus good cap savings.

Jordan Berry.......
Another why is he still here. Get one of those heavy college punters. More bang for the buck.

Rosie Nix........
Don't really see a need for him with a stacked backfield.

And in a perfect world DUPREE.......
I'd happily take the cap hit from this idiot.
And I hope the entire locker room jumped his ass for his stupid Twitter shit the other day.
As one person replying to him said.......
"His Twitter bullshit had more his than he had in his career." Maybe instead of playing with himself on Twitter, he should be practicing more.

He started a major bitch session with a reporter......

Called him a 'fat boy and a worthless fuckin idiot'

And even if it's true, his troll game needs just as much if not more than his football game.
The even sadder part is he baited Chickillo into bashing the reporter too.
2 idiots needing to figure out if they want to be trolls on Twitter or football players.

There are gonna be vet losers in camp that get cut or traded.

I don't think they need to make any cut decision right now. It'll work itself out organically.

Of course the names could change based on injuries, etc., but with them being as tight as they are now...some heads will have to roll...just having some dead time fun with guessing which heads.

Dupree...should be thanking his lucky stars Colbert/Tomlin feel like none of the fans do about his game.

Nix...good point, but no other lead blocker. I've always felt Nix was under used as a pass catcher when all the focus is somewhere else....only saving $375k by releasing him....he probably makes it.

Rogers...he and Switzer are the same guy to me...of the two I think Switzer has done a better job of earning Ben's trust. If the rookie Diontae shines early, Rogers could be in trouble.

Berry...agree.

Boswell...he would actually cost them money to cut, but he could be costing them games if he kicks like he did LY.

Boz I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt too.....
A second grade groin tear for a kicker has got to be a bitch. It'll boil down to whether he's heal properly and if he can stop being his own worst enemy. A couple clutch field goals and he'll be forgiven IMO. But one miss will be all it takes for a riot to break out.

Yeah, had to be something for him to go from super clutch inside 50 to shaky on extra pts.

Artie is definitely the easy answer. What worries me the most is he always has a good offseason. Every damn year we get fluff pieces talking about how dominant he looks in camp. I’m expecting the same sort of stuff, and Tomlin will think he’s turned things around and keep him on the 53 as a complete waste of space.

Another player to note... Vance McDonald. Very good player but tired of seeing his ass on the injury reports. And the position is too thin right now. #BringBackBucky

But I’m with @Superbelt in that there’s no need to clear space until the end of August. Rookies are under contract, so let the competition commence.

Obviously we let the process run it's course...dead time fodder is all this is...interesting thought on McD.
