I think the fact that everyone hates it makes me like it even more. Jesus.

Thinking back on it though, doesn't Arya actually have the best Story, over Bran that is. Considering this was the reason Bran was chosen, it arguable Arya's story is much better. Although I think we are unsure how many people are actually familar with Arya's story. Does Tyrian know?

Either way, she killed the NK, that right there seems like a more meaningful story than Brans really. I mean I guess his rise to be King would seem less likely. He should be dead, but seems like saving all humanity is the best story.

Gotta question that I don't feel like looking up myself;

In the scene where they choose the new King, who are the old guys? I recognized Edmure Tully (obviously) and then Robin Aryn and The Nameless Prince of Dorne but I couldn't figure out the others.

I believe they are just nameless characters that we've never seen before for the most part. There was one guy who looked like a northern lord that I thought might have been Howland Reed but I'm sure they would have dropped his name at some point if that were the case.

Someone petitioning to get an ending changed is a much bigger nerd than I could ever be.

"We demand you spend millions of dollars redoing the ending or........oh that's right we don't have shit to hold over anyone"

Mass Effect Trilogy says, 'Hi'...

He wasn't king because he had the best story. He was king because he held the true history of human's stories.

The one next to Sam was potentially Howland Reed though they didn't confirm it. He had the same sigil as the younger Reeds.

I just want to throw this out there.

A lot of people are talking about Dany's story arc and how it felt unearned. I tend to disagree and I think that if Season 7 and 8 were one whole season as originally planned it would have made a lot more sense. But ultimately this was always a plausible story arc for her in the show and in the books.

IMO, the character that really gets shit on is Jon at least when you compare book Jon to show Jon.

Book Jon was a young strong leader that people wanted to follow or resented. Show Jon was a broody bitch who people inexplicably listened to.

Book Jon was a go getter who took on responsible to get things done because no one else would do it but didn't have the suicide death wish he seemed to have in the show.

IMO, of all the characters in the books and show, Jon was the most dramatically different and not in a good way. Oddly enough, Jaime would probably be No. 2.
I really couldn't disagree more. Nothing in Dany's story arch tells you that she's about to become a brutal mass murderer of innocent people. She's merciless toward her enemies so I guess if you really want to feel good about it you could point to that. Her lack of mercy when dealing with enemies. But that's a leap. A massive one IMHO. You don't go from killing soldiers and the people who lead them with the goal of freeing the people to freeing the people by slaughtering the innocent.

Jon... I would have to think about more. I can say that I was not under the impression that his book character was vastly different than the show. That could be me not noticing though and I'm not ready to say one way or the other. It's been a while since I read the books and the show's characters have kind of replaced the book ones for me.

Maybe but Arya was never one to share much detail of her story with anyone. And she'd never have the kind of patience it takes to be a ruler.

And that one scene before the battle with the undead where Tyrion asks Bran to share his story was the setup for him suggesting that Bran be the new king.

I really have no desire to learn about book Jon, but leading the team to get the walker? Leading the hunt for the knight king? going out by himself to try to stop the invasion of the people trying to get behind the wall? For Christs sake, he got Dany to follow him to the war of the dead. Are you sure you dont have them mixed up?

Dany got jealous when nobody was slapping her on the back at the after-battle party. Then she was threatened by Jon's revelation and rejection. She's also shunned (without cause) by the Stark sisters. Then she murders what, millions of innocents? All this happens right after she decides to go fight the dead instead of chasing her dreams. She risks everything to save the people. Then kills as many innocent men, women, and children as she can in an afternoon after she gets what she wants. After she's won.

Bullshit.

You are looking at her as a murderer but she looked at it punishing her enemies. The people of King's Landing supported Cersei. Thus they were complicit in her remaining in power and ultimately killing her dragon and Missandei. When she torched all the slave owners, it wasn't like she interviewed each one and made sure that only the bad ones were killed.

Show Jon is very brave. And it does say that people love him. But his on screen character wasn't like that. He always seemed like a victim of fate.

How she looked at it isn't what we are talking about. Cersei doing that would make sense because that's who her character was. Dany or Jon or even Sansa... no. We are talking about the character and what is a plausible reaction and action due to the events taking place based on what we know of her. The slave owners are not farmers and mothers and children. A logical person doesn't connect those dots and they didn't flesh out (nor has martin in the books) her losing her mind in order to reach that conclusion.

She knew better than to think that the people "supported Cersei" and were anything but peasants with no voice. At least the Dany that we knew would know that. The character that they drew for us over the course of the story would know that. And that's the problem.

So your feeling is that show Jon was very brave but a victim of fate? And that doesn't mesh with book Jon?
