But the initial announcement.....

Gobbledy Gooker's debut got a bigger reaction than Mick's pulling out the 24/7 championship belt.

Probably because that shit is ugly as hell. When I first saw the picture of it, I thought it was fake.

The shows have been trending downward long before they did that. It's the logical endpoint of spending the last decade+ of not building any true lasting stars, instead just kept relying on Cena or older guys like HHH, Undertaker, and Brock Lesnar to pop a rating for a few months when things get creaky.

I think most people will crush creative. But WWE has been so overloaded with talent, to me, it’s hard to create a huge superstar like Cena again. They tried to with Reigns but fans rejected it. Then all of the NXT call ups who fans are excited about then fizzle because you can’t have everyone win all the time. To me, they just have too many wrestlers. 3 hours for Raw is just too long for a wrestling show but 3 hours plus the 2 on Smackdown isn’t long enough to get enough guys over and showcase the actual talents.

To me but kind of late, but they should have made Raw the main brand. Smackdown the brand for potential guys or former stars looking for lesser work time like Randy Orton type guys’ll and for NXT call ups, then keep NXT the same. Smackdown should have the universal title, US championship and Smackdown women’s title and Smackdown tag titles. Then if guys or gals can get over enough they can get called up to Raw. Raw could use the main stream ratings and Smackdown could use the ratings boost for fans who are craving something different like AEW. If they are going to do a brand split then do it, different writers and two completely different shows so when they do these combined PPV’s it is fresh and must see.

It's most definitely on Creative, mostly just the final decision makers which is usually Vince. They've got a lot of wrestlers but they've got a ton of air time as well. They just don't fill it properly. Any time they strike on something with some of the newer guys, it gets shelved. They don't stick with anything. They have the mindset of if its not The Rock immediately on day 1, then its not worth pursuing even though that's not how any successful star has ever been created. It takes time and patience and they don't have it. They'll just go with some patchwork fix like bringing back an older already established face or hotshot a title change for the sake of having a title change.

They'd also have plenty of time to work more people into their shows if they weren't so formulaic. For example, every Raw doesn't need to kick off with a 15 to 20 promo that follows the same predictable beats. Or another example is look at how often you'll see the same 4 singles wrestlers wrestling the same tag match week in and week out. They won't break that formula but then wonder why things don't work.

Finally saw Rollins/AJ

Can we please get a rematch at Summer Slam or Survivor Series?

Both of those matches were fantastic.

I'm not sure about AJs injury status or schedule but I'd love to see him beat Seth for the title via heel turn with Seth winning it back at WM.

I miss the days of the 90s.

The Bret/undertaker and Bret/diesel spread out runs of matches were the best work of the company.

Something like MITB, Survior, and WM would be incredible.

I don’t disagree with they have enough air time, but they don’t in terms of the ADD crowd. You need the big names to fill the time otherwise it’s just the NXT and Indy crowd watching the other matches. Agree on them wanting the Rock but it’s a public company now and pressure is ten fold on creative. The Rock was essentially second fiddle even with a championship in his day until he got a chance that only the attitude era allowed. This PG era does not allow for that or Ziggler would be over like HBK was.

Vince does have the final say and that is the issue. To me, he is more concerned with not embarrassing himself nowadays with the XFL than the WWE. Some say HHH has more control yet there is more excitement online for NXT than nearly anything WWE main roster does. They don’t have to go full attitude where crap guys like The Godfather get over but there is grey that they should be working but being a public company hinders creative. Fudge they have an easy, low hanging fruit storyline with Rusev, the New Day or any non white wrestler when it comes to Vince’s BFF in the White House and Hulk Hogan but PG won’t allow it. Create storylines where people can hate you the way Americans did with Bret but every else loved him. Shit DB is heal and won’t wrestle in SA, use that angle too. Take the easy bait instead of calling guys up and just ruining their character over jobbing for no reason.

Elias is a perfect example. He doesn’t win but they allow him to keep coming in the ring and getting the house to boo the shit out of him. Let easy shit become organic like somehow the Becky angle got over without any intentional effort.

They also say Taker is back today. Wonder if its still taker vs goldberg in saudi arabia.

If this wont save Raw, its gonna take T/A returning.
or does Brock just not want to carry the briefcase like a boom box anymore?

Interested to see what the swerve will be for Brock and the briefcase. It's no telling what the Saudi's gave to WWE who in turn gave a ridiculous amount to Brock just to make the trip to SA where he technically doesn't even have a match.
