Question for you guys because I might have missed it:

After "The Red Woman" walked into the distance a couple of episodes ago and took that thing off her neck and aged like 500 years then died, Sir Davos picked it up. What happened with that? I assume whatever she had on her neck was what stopped her from aging. After he picked that thing up I figured that would somehow tie into the plot.

Yea and I haven't seen season 2 but Aaron Paul is in 3. That along with Watchmen and the show with James Mccavoy look solid (his dark materials)

I absolutely loved the first season. The second season was alright, I think it just wasn't as interesting to me because I think some of the novelty of the show wore off a bit.

Really looking forward to the third season since it looks like they're taking a completely different direction with it.

I don't know anything about the Watchmen series/comics as I never saw the Watchmen movie or know anything about the premise, but the trailer for that looked interesting and I'll definitely watch that.

There's no doubt to me that Jon turned himself in.

Yeah, no doubt in my mind. He wanted to put an end to her reign then and there. He's not going to let anyone else take the blame. He's not going to make people think she just left and might return.

Actor Who Portrayed The Night King Recalls Challenge Of Playing Character With No Purpose

https://entertainment.theonion.com/...he-night-king-recalls-challenge-of-1834899302

Didn't read the article, but the headline nails one of the biggest problems with the show.

I did a re-watch of seasons 5-7 before this season. The writing goes out of its way to make it clear that the Night King is the real evil. The humans fighting each other is ultimately stupid and pointless because there is a greater enemy.

All of that build up to have the Night King show up and go out like the biggest bitch in the history of television bitches. They killed Sauron in The Two Towers. They killed Voldemort with two whole books left. They glossed over fighting an Ice Demon who can raise people from the dead in order to spend three episodes fighting a drunk pregnant bitch and then arguing about an election.

But let's be clear to everybody who seems to think people are upset about the ending because "it's not what they wanted to happen".

That's not it. People are upset because this show had so much going for it and ultimately shit its pants for the last 3 seasons.

This show has so much great cinematography, great acting, and great effects but ultimately it's all wasted on a bunch of really, really terrible writing. Nothing in this last season made any fucking sense. Character motivations, battle strategies, nothing. It's just a real god damn shame this show became such shit given the quality of the source material.

Dani's early and easy death was the biggest surprise of the episode .... Truely.
The whole episode stunk, but if I were to dissect it, this was one of my biggest issues. The last time Dani saw Jon, she was so pissed at him that she became the Mad Queen. And in the aftermath of her destruction, she knows that he's the only true threat to her rule. There is no way Jon would have that kind of free, unfettered access to her with no guards around. And there's no way she would have whimsically gotten so close to him after he had just rejected her a few hours ago.

Not regular viewer but I've seen several episodes over the years and watched the last 4 weeks with my wife. She's saying that people (including her) are upset about the direction and end for the blonde dragon queen.

I'd always gotten the impression that she was basically no good, but my wife says not so .. that she was torn between multiple forces and most fans were rooting for her. Is that true ?

I thought last night's finale episode was great, btw. There was a minimal graphic, though extremely well-done, carnage which is something I really don't need in my life every week and one of the reasons I never tried to get into the series.

I wouldn't say she was always no good, at least I didn't see her that way.
However, once the ... holy shit, she just went full Targ. ... wore off, I started thinking back and realized, at least for me, her going full Targ was pretty much inevitable. I thought Tyrion did a good job of explaining it when he was trying to convince Jon to get rid of her.

I can see having real criticism for the writing and its rushed nature but to say nothing made sense?

Like Jon for example...he was pretty consistent in being a foolishly noble individual. I have not read the books but nothing much changed there over the course of the entire run

Just as an example.

They were pretty damm scary that's for sure but villains like Cersi and Ramsey and the rest were still pretty big in the plot.

Half way through the last season is fine.

Um...she had a fucking dragon guarding her. Jon was the only person who could have went by him.

She always had a fierce, violent streak in her whether it was being Tagarian or living as a Dothraki. But she seemed to make a determined effort for so long to be more than just that.

Yeah, the same dragon that didn't do shit after Jon killed her. He was always going to get past Drogon because he's a Targaryen. Dany should have known this.

You're saying Dany had no reason to believe Jon was going to come see her? Or that she had no reason to be guarded from him?

1 Favorite character?
2 Best character?

Already voted, but wanted to give an honorable mention to Olenna Tyrell for favorite character... Davos is still.my favorite, but really liked her too.

Watch the campy 80s movie version of Flash Gordon for your answer.... At the end, SOMEONE picks up Ming's ring and you hear him putting it on and laughing....

Still waiting for the sequel though.. :(

I agree, but the thing is, at least for me, in her speech to the Dothraki and Unsullied in last night's episode, she seemed to think what she did to King's Landing was in keeping with what she'd done before. It's part of why I liked what Tyrion said as much as I did. When it was the slave masters in Astapor, it's hard not to cheer. What if, instead of just sticking with the slave masters, she'd decided it wasn't just those in charge of the system who needed to die, but all who participated in it? To me, that's the leap she made with King's Landing, and she appeared to think it perfectly justified.

Several things...the love story, distaste at kin slaying and him being torn between love, duty and honor. I doubt she saw it coming otherwise she wouldn't have warmed up as quickly.
