it worked for terrell davis who was less dominant, and donald is more impressive than mackDonald is already a hall of famer? As in, if he retired tomorrow? I don't know about that. 5 fantastic seasons gets you close... but I wouldn't be necessarily certain about it as to include him with those other names. You almost have to include Mack then as well. Their numbers are very similar over 5 seasons.
And I would include Roethlisberger to your list.
dalton is climbing high, hes right there knocking on the HOF door tooWe agree. As it stands, he's the NFL's equivalent to a Paul Konerko... or maybe not that since Konerko led a team to a World Series ring. However, you get the point and I digress. 440 HR's 2500 hits... a couple of MVP caliber seasons, but never was he in the conversation as being the league's best hitter.
That's how I see Ryan unless he finishes his career with a boom. I just think he's rather clearly better than Dalton, is all.
Also, I roll my eyes at whenever a fan touts a QB from the past 10-15 years as being "great" because they're top 5 or top 10 all-time in rating, yardage or TD's. No shit... Those lists will soon be almost exclusive to players from the mid-00's and onward. There's mediocre QB's from this decade who are either on all-time lists in those areas or will be. Jay Cutler and Josh Freeman are top 40 in all-time QB Rating still... I am fairly certain. Dalton will finish high on these lists as well.
It's about how you measure up to your contemporary counterparts. No sport fluctuates more with it's statistics than football. Hell... the majority of QB's in the HOF from pre-1980's had more INT's than TD's. lol. How can you compare that to the 2010's?
I agree he will get in. Personally I don't think him or Rivers should get in. Neither was ever considered one of top 3-4 QB's in the league at any time.If Ryan plays til he's 40 and his stats as re simply the average of his career stats ( not taking into account they're trending up )
He will finish with 72k yards , 450 TDS, a top 10 all time QB rating , a top 5 all time postseason QB rating , a minimum of 1 MVP ( maybe more ) and 1 SB appearance ( maybe more )
Given that no one behind him from 09-13 is putting up those numbers it jeans when his time comes he will likely be
Too 3 all time in yards.
Top 5 all time in TDs
Top 10 all time in QB rating
Top 5 in postseason. QB rating
And all that's if his current upward trend stops and he reverts to his average .
Sorry but that gets you in . Everytime

The thing is, Superbowls and Superbowl victories add quite a bit to the resume. I would put Eli in before Rivers, but they are both borderline. Stats is always a big thing, but recent QB stats need to be taken with a grain of salt. Rivers, Eli nor Ryan have never been one of the top 3-4 QB's in the league.Rivers is Jim Kelly without the SB losses and with better looking stats. I think he will get in. He has been better than Eli tbh, without those 2 SB runs and those great Giants defenses' Eli isn't sniffing the HOF. I think he is still borderline, personally I wouldn't put Eli in if it was up to me

Good list and very accurate IMO. I'd add Andre Johnson to the Just to Retired list though.
Honestly I figured it was just of out of sight out of mind.Ahh forgot about him. Yeah definitely a lock imo
Johnson will get in but I've always found it interesting that fans and media hold QBs to a different standard now because of era but no one does the same for WR or TE.Ahh forgot about him. Yeah definitely a lock imo

I'm also including D. Ware to the list.
