love Eduardo, but man does he fall apart towards the end of his outings. he shouldn't have come out given his pitch count to begin with though.

8 of the 9 Red Sox regulars have an OPS+ north of 110. Christian Vazquez has a 119 OPS+ and Moreland's slugging .574. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ after a slow start, the Sox are hitting .273/.372/.460 over the last 28 days.

the pitching's been awesome over the last month. 3.21 ERA (80 runs overall) in 213.1 innings over the last 28 days and they're averaging 11.1 K's per 9 IP.

Now a day later, that play looks even worse.
SI has labelled it the worst play in the history of MLB

total brain collapse attempted Tag out with a force at any base (100% guaranteed to get 1 out and 99% 2 outs)
missed tag leads to panic weak throw to pull off the 1st basemen and take away the force at 1st
1st basemen attempts another rundown with easy outs still on the board (100% 1 out, and still 50% 2 outs)
panicked throw to home way too late after chasing runner inexplicably


7 year old little league t-ball players would be able to get at least one out and probably two.

I think your math is a little shoddy on those 2 out probabilities

But yeah the play was bad

I understood stood the position before maybin fc but with 2 outs left, the of playing shallow was odd

Looks like they'll get Paxton back at some point during the trip, maybe Stanton also.


Had anyone heard anything about Judge? I mean, we're getting Didi extended ST news, but not a peep about the big fella.
