I cannot believe people are saying Trout is arguable. If it wasn’t for the ten year rule, Trout could retire tomorrow morning to be an alpaca rancher, and he’s an INFINITY LOCK for the HOF

Harper 138
Bryant 139
...and Bryant is WAY more consistent.

Stop saying Harper is a semi-Lock for HOF

You've now gone into full homer mode... After exhausting a false notion that game 7 is an entire season and having that go nowhere, you've turned to personal attacks.

Oldest trick in the homer playbook, but it was clear you were a Twins homer when you couldn't even admit that Morris had no dominating seasons.

I don't even wanna know how ballistic you'll go if someone claimed Kirby Puckett wasn't much better than Bernie Williams
(reality check - they're pretty comparable).

Please show me where I said game 7 was a full season, I must have been drunker than I thought I was.

Homer mode? He played for the Twins for one year!

Personal attacks? You mean in response to yours?

Morris was considered one of the best starting pitchers in the game in the mid 80's.

I think his 86 was dominating, you don't, yippy.

I liked Bernie Williams, I have no issue at all with people saying he was as good as Puckett. As a Twins fan I think Kirby was better but that like my view of Morris is just my opinion.

Wife beater. Fuck him. They gave him the Roberto Clemente treatment. But where Clemente was an honest to God humanitarian, Puckett was just a marital terrorist.

Agreed, but what does that have to do with baseball?

Please show me where I said game 7 was a full season, I must have been drunker than I thought I was.

In response to me saying Verlander has had 3-4 truly dominant seasons and Morris probably had 0, your response was:

"6 shutouts in 86 is at least a little dominating. It's only been done by like 5 or 6 other pitchers since he had those 6 and yes, arguably the best World Series performance in the history of the game by a pitcher does forgive some of the poor performances"

So yes, you're basically claiming that game 7 is the equivalent of a season here, as is 6 games (while ignoring the other ~30 that season).

Homer mode? He played for the Twins for one year!

Who cares how long he played there for? He made himself a Twins legend that season, and because of that he's revered by Twins fan (prove me wrong).

Personal attacks? You mean in response to yours?

You called me an asshole in response to what personal attack I made? Show me where I made a personal attack before you called me an asshole (hint: you can't).

Morris was considered one of the best starting pitchers in the game in the mid 80's.

And your point is? No one's arguing this.

I think his 86 was dominating, you don't, yippy.

If you think a 3.27 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 2.7 K/BB is dominating, then you should also think Ervin Santana's 2017 was dominating. Kind of a low bar to be a dominating season, considering how many pitchers have had seasons with comparable/better ERAs, WHIPs and K/BBs.

Didn’t Baines totally distort what HOF actually means in baseball? He turned the HOF into Oprah’s you get a car gif.

Joe Carter and Darryl Strawberry should get in, too.

I've been a Twins fan more than 40 years, I don't think much of Jack Morris, thanks for the one great year, he's not in my top 50 favorite Twins all time, good enough?

You called me an asshole in response to what personal attack I made? Show me where I made a personal attack before you called me an asshole (hint: you can't).

Sure I can...

"6 starts isn't an entire season, or even quarter of one no matter how much you might seem to think it is."

yes, arguably the best World Series performance in the history of the game by a pitcher does forgive some of the poor performances"

That was in response to you saying he had some bad post season games as well, had nothing to do with thinking game 7 equaled an entire season.

You call that a personal attack?

Still waiting for you to admit that Ervin Santana's 2017 was dominant, since it was just as good as Morris' 1986...

Santana 2017 - 3.28 ERA, 135 ERA+, 1.13 WHIP, 2.74 K/BB, .225 BAA, .678 OPS against
Morris 1986 --- 3.27 ERA, 127 ERA+, 1.17 WHIP, 2.72 K/BB, .229 BAA, .690 OPS against

You really think being called an ahole by someone you don't know on a message board is a personal attack?

giphy.gif

What happened first, you being insulting or the "personal attack"?

There were a few differences, funny you didn't include them...

Santana 2017 - 16 wins, 6 complete games, 3 shutouts
Morris 1986 - 21 wins, 15 complete games, 6 shutouts

Y’all gonna be mad when Lester has three more good years, getting into the CY top 5 once more, and gets into the Hall?

Cursing at someone's not a personal attack? Whaaaaa

Wins? Oh boy.....I bet you think Bartolo Colon's 2005 was better than Johan Santana's 2005 because Colon had 21 wins and Santana had 16 (or do wins only matter when it's convenient to you)? Let's ignore the fact that Morris in 1986 had much better run support than Santana did in 2017....you don't think that factors in wins?

And the complete games are largely a function of eras.....shoot, guys from the 1890s were throwing 40 complete games a season. That doesn't mean they were better than Pedro Martinez or Greg Maddux, correct? Morris played at a time when getting 10+ complete games a season was pretty common.

Santana led his league in complete games and shutouts the same amount of times as Morris did (1x each). Is it Santana's fault he was a toddler in the 1980s and didn't get to pitch in that era?

So now you're moving the goalposts? lolzzz

Did I say they mattered? I was just including them since you conveniently forgot to...

So since you like including stats that don't really matter in a comparison like this, why don't you post their ages, weights, heights in those seasons?

And you're still ignoring the question: was Ervin Santana's 2017 season as good as Morris' 1986? You can't seem to argue it wasn't, but you don't want to admit it, because admitting that Ervin Santana had a dominant season would show that your definition of a dominant season is a joke, hence it would be a joke to say that Morris had any dominant seasons.

@StanMarsh51 crying over being called an asshole and labeling that as a personal attack is one of the lamest things I have ever seen on here. Lost a little respect for you after reading that.

Santana 6'2 175 34

Enjoyed the conversation... :suds:
