D.K. Metcalf**, WR, Ole Miss
Height: 6-3. Weight: 228. Arm: 34.88. Hand: 9.88.
40 Time: 4.33. Three Cone: 7.38.
Bench: 27. Vertical: 40.5. Broad: 11-2.
Projected Round (2019): 1-2.
4/23/19: Metcalf was the talk of the Friday sessions of the combine after he ripped off a devastating 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds. On top of showing an elite combination of size and speed, the sculpted wideout did well in the field drills, catching the ball and showing off better-than-expected route-running. After his phenomenal workout, Metcalf looks like a secure first-round pick despite coming off a season-ending neck injury and not having much development in his route-running from college.

In 2018, Metcalf went out for the year with a neck injury after seven games. Prior to that, he was playing well, exploiting a lot of man coverage with teams focused on stopping A.J. Brown. Metcalf totaled 26 receptions for 569 yards and five touchdowns on the season. The big wideout has mismatch size and should be a red-zone weapon for the NFL. He should have returned to Ole Miss for 2019, but he decided to enter the 2019 NFL Draft. His medical exam and his route-running are going to be very important for his draft grade.

Metcalf is a love/hate prospect. Some team sources think he could be drafted in the No. 15-25 range, but others have him in Round 4 and don't think he has enough change-of-direction quickness and agility to be effective in the NFL.

The guy was rated as the #1 WR prospect in this draft on many boards. He's a big get for this franchise and will of course need time to develop. But the Seahawks went out and got the tall, deep threat, WR they needed. I like the pick and think we got him at a very nice spot there. He wouldn't of lasted the there in the 3rd, so we nailed it.

The next two names mentioned in that top 3 are Paris Campbell at 5-11" and Marquise Brown at 5-9". Harry went first, but he's about as explosive as a sloth. You want to talk about reaches. Patriots taking him with their 1st was a massive reach. That would be the time for Shartcycle and Snuggles to two fist bottles of midol if the Seahawks had used one of their 1st round picks on N'Keal Harry.

Now that's a 6pk!

Seeing the entire photo is eye-opening; out of 11 completely shredded dudes, which one stands out?

Winovich seems like a guy that we could have used... but maybe redundant to Collier?

I LOVE the Metcalf pick. I would've been fine with him at 47... it's quite funny WalterFootball predicts him to go top 5 in the 2nd round but when he actually goes at the end of the 2nd round grades it a B and shits all over the selection.

I get Metcalf is raw and needs to work on route running, but Seattle needs ANYTHING LARGE/BIG and fast at WR on the outside. That is Metcalf. $20 this guy is our #1 in 2 years.

We finally pick a talent and the koolaid drinkers dont like it
I guess I'm one of the so-called koolaid drinkers (relative to someone who bitches and moans non-stop about everything, it's a big club), and I don't dislike the pick per se. I just think you don't get a lot of value most of the time on early pick WRs because of how long it takes them to develop in the NFL. If he's here 4 years, we probably get a max of 2 productive seasons based on how things usually go...unless he's some sort of generational talent like Randy Moss.

Metcalf should be plug and play. We have nothing comparable at WR, Baldwin is gimped (sadly), and Darboh appears to be a HUGE bust. Just plug this beast in.... This seems like a pick Seattle will ignore and let go via UFA and the the Patriots will pick him up for $500K a year and turn him into Randy Moss 2.0.

Next Pick

WR again.
Metcalf may/may not work out. HUGE risk reward.

Who else at WR?

I like Butler, Boykin, Anthony Johnson (Buffalo) and Ridley. In that order.

i was worried about this and even brought up how we needed a WR because i felt Baldwins body might be done. I hope to god he is 100% come game time this season but i won't hold my breath. Would love to have him around for a couple more years at least though. Even at 80% Baldwin is a monster if you ask me.

I think Metcalf will be on the team to just to move the ball I really dont think he will be as good as people will think definitely not a julio jones or AJ Green. Probably be used to help move the ball on third down I think our WR coaches will need a lot of work developing him.

With that being said it seems like Doug Baldwin might be done so we need help there. I had a feeling with his injury last season that it might be up for him
