I think by getting an agent they can get even better feedback. Alot of these guys will and should come back. But it won't be til mid May until we find out.
Itll be interesting . You look at a team like UVA who has 2 guys who may not be first rounders ( Guy and Jerome ) entered but they are also in the mix for the Hausers. How long are the Hausers going to wait ? If you're UVA and they say " we want to come to Virginia " next week do you take them? Of course you do. Then if Guy/Jerome ( or both ) want to come back now what ?? I don't know. I kind of liked it when the school had that certainty when the player signed an agent . I get your point but this is going to backfire at some point

Winston staying. But a big blow for Sparty.

The attrition just gets worse every year.

At this rate, Duke may work itself back to preseason #1 in what is really a down year for them.

It's pretty alarming that kids would rather be fighting to work their way onto a G-League roster rather than compete for a national championship.

If you're a first round pick, I understand. If you're a 2nd round pick and you play for so-so team, I sort of understand. But Ward would have been a starter on the Preseason #1 and isn't even in the NBA Top 100.

College basketball really has to do something to stem the tide...

I mean the only thing really left to do us make it so these kids can go all the way through the draft but still come back to college . It used to be like that but I can't see them going back to it

Or go the hockey style. Imagine Zion being called up for the nba playoffs like that kid at UMass did with the avalanche this week?

That's actually a fun idea and it'd be better for the kids. The NBA already drafts guys and keeps them in Europe or the G league . Why not just keep then in college ? Kind of how it used to be but the call up at season end is fun

The problem is that even if they went undrafted, I still don't think a lot of them would come back.

Being a college basketball player seems to have lost a lot of appeal for kids.

IMO we should let the kids that want to get paid a salary for playing basketball, instead of only a scholarship, be pros. Those that want to play only for a scholarship be college players.

What sucks to me is allowing them to keep one foot in both camps. That's created the cesspool that is AAU, etc.

One issue is that the money is pretty damn good in Europe too.... Take a guy like Ty Jerome. Another year at UVa isn't going to make him a lottery pick. He's almost maxed out his draft potential. And even if he was no better than a 2nd rounder, it's hard to know how much different it would be next year. If he doesn't make the NBA, it sucks, but it doesn't kill his long term ability to make money. That guy has such a game, he'll make millions in the euro leagues if he chooses.

It's gonna be really tough to figure this out for next year.

I think as of now I'd go with this as my top 5:

1. Michigan State
2. Oregon
3. Kentucky
4. Florida
5. Arizona

Duke just misses out for me. I just have a hard time putting them in the top 5 when this recruiting class, while obviously still great, on paper isn't close to the one that is leaving.

Also considered Louisville, Ohio State, Villanova, and Maryland.

So did Iggy and Poole at UM. I don't think that makes sense to have them top 5.

If Coffee returns are Gophers a top 15 team? @mr.hockey4242 @PnkPanther ? Pitino seems to have righted the ship a little with this recruiting class. Hoping to land the PF grad transfer from Drexel.

Agreed.

Unc with 2 huge guard recruits today makes them interesting. But not top 5 worthy

Yeah thought about them but don't think they are quite there. They have quite the reload to take on. Lose 4 starters and best guy off the bench. UNC typically doesn't have that type of attrition.

I think thats a little high unless Carr is really good.

Yeah probably was a bit optimistic. Gophs did pick up a nice 4 star today. Prefer this recruit over Sherfield anyway since he is a wing. If Coffey does come back, I'll really be looking forward to next season!
