How do you know what makes a QB great? Is it because of playing in the right offense, playing under a great coach or playing on a team loaded with talent.

"loaded with talent"? LOL! As a Pats fan, I roll my eyes at statements like this. Every time training camp rolls around, media and fans of other teams start up with "the Patriots don't have a playoff worthy roster" or "there's a lack of talent across the roster". Then they take that roster and go deep every year. All of a sudden, they are "loaded with talent". Outside of Randy Moss and Corey Dillon, most players acquired by trade or free agency came in with little fanfare. They build their roster with players with versatility and smarts.....

100% spot on. As far as the main offensive players go, only Gronk was actually a bigger name upon arriving in New England, and if you want to count the one year they had Moss when he looked burned out, go ahead. As tired as I am of it happening, New England keeps winning by making journeymen and nobodies look like really good players, at least on offense. This will be the 2nd year in a row that they lost an OT that became the highest paid in the NFL, and my guess is they probably fucking rebound just fine.

Hogwash Deion Branch their no#1 was a superstar and #1's Welker was a kickoff guy and Edelman was a QB in college converted to ST's. Even Martellus Bennett contributed the 1 season he was here with 7 Tds and a SB ring. Obviously I am being sarcastic

Edelman was the MVP in the Super Bowl so he obviously fits that offensive system. Belichick knows how to utilize the smaller, quicker WR's.

Deion Branch had better have bought Brady a house or a Maserati or something, because all that money he got from Seattle was 100% the product of playing with Tom.

Or was it the system?
Multiple players have left NE for stupid $ that haven't done anything after their departure.

It was the system, but the Pats set the system up to fit Brady's skill sets. If any other organization is not doing that then they are failing. Every team has a system that ideal is not exclusive to the Pats. Always boggles the mind when people say the Pats or Brady's success is because of a "System".

What I am saying is the Pat's don't waste first round picks on WR and their last 2 No#1 receivers weren't even receivers . You need a QB that knows how to throw that quick slant pass or knows how to utilize the TE's. Again Belichick wasn't successful until Brady took over as QB and in fact is 6-9 vs the mighty AFCE ,but I do give Josh Mcdaniels more credit. Belichick is a Defense guy as shown as DC for Parcells in NY. Mcdaniels is a helluva of a OC but I wouldn't hire him as a HC . Just like Rex Ryan is a super DC but HC, no

I also don't believe McDaniels would make a good head coach but the Pats offense and defense are the creation of Belichick who I consider the best head coach in the NFL. His game planning in the playoffs was very impressive, especially the one in Kansas City.

In todays game, yes I would agree that Belichick is the best coach, but i don't see any powerhouse coaches like the Lombardi's,Landrys' Walsh, Nolls, Shulas or Gibbs today. I think Belichick is more of a product of Brady like McCarthy with Rodgers but of course not comparing the 2 coaches. The seasons Brady didn't start or was injured Pats missed the playoffs, with Brady you know the record

I wouldn't compare Belichick with McCarthy. Belichick is a master at game planning for an opponent and his defenses are always solid while McCarthy was a poor play caller that was bailed out by Rodgers. The Packers defense and special teams were always his achilles heel.

I know that's why I said not comparing the coaches but both their records would be way off w/o either QB. Belichick has only playoff game in 8 seasons w/o Brady 6-9 vs AFCE . Losing record to the Jets and 4-3 vs Buffalo while Brady is 29-3 vs Buffao. Wheb Brady was suspended 4 games, Buffalo shut out NE in Foxborough, first shutout in 40 years there. When Brady was back they scored 41 points on the road, see the diffrence?/ Again BB started out 5-13 and Brady took that 0-2 team and won the SB that year and 2 out of the next 3. No doubt Belichick works harder and smarter than the other coaches today, but being down 25 to Atlanta in late 3rd Q or 10 to Seattle in 4th QB SB, never saw Brady get rattles, him, Montana, Captain Comeback Staubach to name a few have ice in their veins, that's what makes the difference, coach doesn't make the throws

Hate to say it but Belichick has been suspect last few years. Why he didn't play Butler in the SB vs Eagles is beyond me, Pats secondary couldn't stop a cold in that game and let Foles do the Philly special , wide open. Imo he cost us another SB giving up HFA with the worst coaching down a stretch I have ever seen. He wins the coin toss in OT vs Jets and defers?? Fitz throws a td and they lose. Up 14 points to the Eagle late in first Q or early 2nd Q and tries an onside kick. Philly recovers , scores a TD and scores 41 unanswered points, what the fuck?? They are up 14 to Denver in 4th Denver scores a TD to cut it to 7 points, with 2"45 left Instead of running ball and making Denver use rest of time out, he has Brady throwing 3 in a row, 3rd pass Gronk gets injured and is out for playoffs. Lat game of season they need to beat Miami and they have HFA over Denver who they can't beat in Mile-High. He has Brady handing off the ball the entire first half and Suh lands on Bradys hand??? If your gonna hand off put the back up in, they lost and Denver had HFA. AFCG in Denver, Gost misses an extra point and it came down to a 2 pt conversion at end, Unfortunately Talib was holding Gronk down in endzone, no PI call and Denver destroys Cam and the Panthers. Thanks Bill

Also vs Indy years ago in playoffs late in game, up 4, he goes for it on 4th and 2 on his own 28 yard line? Kick the damn ball and let your D play, not give the ball back deep on your own side.

The head coach does have the final say over the offensive system and Belichick exposes the other team's defensive shortcomings like nobody else. Brady and Belichick are joined at the hip.
