Report: Cardinals will pass on picking Kyler No. 1 overall

"Initially, the ownership pushed for Kyler Murray," Prisco recently said on CBS Sports HQ. "That much I know -- I was told that.

"The reason they did is they are having a hard time selling tickets. Well, they put it out there. Arizona was lukewarm to it. All of a sudden, they are pulling back, and from what I've been told, they are going to go in a different direction. They are not going to draft Kyler Murray."

This might be all smoke and mirrors, but I think it's smart for the Cardinals to question if Murray is the right choice for #1.

The team invested a lot into Rosen last season, trading up for him and everything. Rosen's struggles were not all his fault. He lacked weapons and protection. Just remember a couple of years ago, Jared Goff had a horrible rookie season, and then in year 2 and then year 3, he put up terrific stats and lead the team to a wild card berth and a Super Bowl appearance. It might be a better idea to either trade out of the #1 spot, or draft a stud defensive guy like Williams, Bosa, or Allen.

Just like in 2018, we might see a left field guy come out. Remember when the Browns were suppose to take Darnold and then within two days of the rumor mill said Mayfield?

I miss those end days back @ seabeaess when Freeman and Prisco tried to defend themselves against the angry mob.

No idea who thought columnists plorsting was a good idea. But it was awesome.

The idea fans believe these reports still cracks me up. I remember last year a reporter (or reporters) said Friend of Dorsey was sure John would take Josh Allen...Some Browns fans were crying about this, like it actually happened.

No accountability and these guys just make shit up. If they don't take Murray Prisco will pat himself on the back. If they take him few will even remember.

Whether this is true or not, the move to draft Murray makes zero sense anyway. Only way it makes sense is if you get good value for Rosen AND you think Murray is your franchise guy for years to come. I could see getting a late 2nd for Rosen but does that equal or come close to what you gave up for trading for Rosen. Murray has plenty of question marks, to trade Rosen (who you drafted last year) and draft this guy #1 makes zero sense

I disagree here. sure, ideally, you'd like to move Rosen for good value but this is the QB position. If you can get a guy you are confident is better you have to take him.

Well they must have thought that about Rosen. Then took him in round 1, moved up to get him, and gave him a solid deal. Its not the fault of Rosen they have depleted weapons on no O Line.

But that's the thing, Murray isn't close to a sure thing. So basically if they don't trade Rosen that means.

1. They will have traded up to get "their guy" last year and still have him on the roster to compete for the starting job.
2. Then you get another QB #1 the next year, to also compete for a starting job, when you have better defensive players OTB.

If this was a Luck-like QB prospect, I would agree, but since he isn't...this makes zero sense.

Exactly, why not give the guy a shot. I understand they have a new HC and all that but he hasn't been given a legitimate shot.

Zero shot they take Murray without trading Rosen though imo

They have a coach with zero NFL experience I think, this is a GM call IMO no mater how it goes.

They might not take Murray but I don't believe Pete Prisco has accurate knowledge to that fact.

No front office of any team with decision makers in the know are going to tell Pete Prisco or anyone else what they actually plan on doing with the pick. Any definitive information at this point in the process is purposely planted by the teams to misdirect.

We saw the Browns do it last year with their #1 overall pick. At one point they were going to pick every top prospect and ultimately the one most linked to them was who they took.

Right now I'd say the Cardinals are throwing a hail mary to try to spook the 9ers into trading up a spot. That's why you're hearing Bosa and Q Williams talk about going number 1 because those are the two guys the 9ers are likely to take with #2.

I would call that bluff. The 49ers aren't going to give up anything to trade up for Bosa or Q williams

Makes more sense than drafting Rosen.

No one should be drafting any of these QBs in the top 5. Should be all linemen.
