Sorry to hear that. I broke my collarbone skiing about a year to the day ago and I'm just at the point where I feel I can start working on my game again. Now my left shoulder width is at least a half inch shorter than it was before and the geometry of the shoulder is different. I'm going to get back to the range but the swing is going to be different and the game is going to look a lot different. I'm "only" 48 and I want to be doing this into my 70's so I'll accept what the game's able to give me but it's very frustrating when you damage your body and they can't put it back together like it was before. But that's just the aging process and there's a lot of people that have real health problems they didn't bring on themselves through stupid living that interfere with their lives a hell of a lot more than my shoulder does with my average golf game.

Beautiful day here today and the course is open so I'll try to hobble around a few holes before they cut me on Tuesday morning. The pain's so bad these days that I'm looking forward to a different kind of pain. Bone rubbing on bone in the center of the hip is no joke.

If all goes smoothly, I should be pitching and putting in a few weeks and playing the course by late June. I guess masters week ain't a bad time to be laid up in front of the TV.

Fingers crossed.

Wish you the best NE!

Hope you're back out there in June!

Hearing situations like yours make me really appreciate being able to play, mostly pain free.

The operation went splendidly. Couldn't have hoped for a better first day and yup, been up walking twice already.

I wish I could go home tomorrow but very relieved the tough part went so well.

Great deal!!!

Agree with RJ...take it a day at a time and in no time you'll be back on the course with the will and attitude you have.

This morning I said to my surgeon who's a lower handicap "So I might be playing late June, early July? " He said "May."

Well no shit. Exactly one week ago right now I was heading into the hospital for my 7:30 a.m. procedure.

I made my coffee in the kitchen this morning walking around with a cane. Haven't taken pain meds since Saturday evening and all the original pain is gone.

I'm definitely going to be taking easy swings in no time at all.

So relieved~

Dam homer start out with the short game and get a feel for what you can do. At least you can fish if the pain is too much

No shit, today was day 12. I got the staples out this morning and just spent a half hour in the front yard with a 60 degree wedge. Just flip shots and 30yds and in but what fun. I can feel that there's no way I could walk a course or take fulls swings but it definitely is looking like weeks, not months to get back to the full game.

Went over to the course and met Phil. Rented a cart and I drove him around the 18 holes. What a blast. I was keeping score so Phil didn't know what he was shooting. He needed par on 18 to break 80. Hit a bad drive but still had a shot to the green. Chunked that shot half way there....I bit my tongue....he then wedged it on and had a 12 footer for the 79 which he canned!

I.CAN'T.FUCKING.WAIT.TO.PLAY!

Day 19 yesterday and I was able to ride 18 holes with Phil and I could drop a ball at 90yds and play a wedge to the green. Tried a few drives but that's too much rotation at this point.

The game sure is easy if every drive ended up 90yds out in the middle of the fairway!

My recovery continues to be amazing. Tomorrow will be three weeks to the day and I'm walking without a cane. I'll be playing the full game within a couple of weeks!

All done!

Met with my surgeon this morning. He took a couple of x-rays to confirm that all's well and he sent me out the door to go play.....he's finished with me. He was psyched of course that I've done so well. I rode my Harley to the appt and I'm heading over to the CC this afternoon.

I'm still a couple of weeks away from firing the driver but I can play from 150yds in now. Maybe I'll just drop near Phil's drives for now and play from there.

I'm just one day short of a month from the procedure. So glad I decided to pay my membership....looks like I'm only gonna miss a month and a half or so.

That open invite is there for any of you cats who might travel through the Berkshires of Western MA this summer. Would love to have you come play~

Played a full 18 with a cart yesterday for the first time. It was a perfect sunny day in the high 60s. Strangely, I drove the ball very well but my irons were consistently poor all day and I scored a 91 yikes! First time not breaking 90 on the course but I think I've got at least a decent excuse for now :D

It is still difficult to post up against the right hip going back. I think a left hip recovery would have less effect on the swing. If I've been standing for a while I can move around without a limp but if I've been sitting, esp driving, I limp a bit at first.

By the end of June I should be 100%.

I know this is sort of apples to oranges, but my dad over the past 3 years has had both rotator cuffs surgery . A blessing in disguise. It has shorten his swing up tremendously. Granted he has lost some distance but gained in accuracy. He went to the Adams tight lie to try and compensate for distance lost.... I am willing to bet he has knocked of 3-5 strokes around btw he is 62... Just keep doing your rehab and you will be fine... Good luck.
