i do i do. I believe @Guns N Guitars had something like , his wr's let him down, his defense let him down. The coaching called poor plays(even though aaron runs whatever he wants). That aaron cant do it all. THe lossed are not aarons fault, hes qb rating is higher than brady's. I think i got most of his rationale

Yeah he cant comprehend that Brady's first 50 games, he played before they enforced the no contact rule after 5 yard penalty. After 04 stats went through the roof , that's why I never compare stats from one era to another. Now its such a pass happy league and the guy can only throw over 4500 yards once and best season 45 Tds

really?

you manipulating stats is true
you thinking your opinions make you a higher authority is certainly true
you being a shithead without question is true

AND....wait for it

You still not being able to name one great QB without talent around him is the grand slam

I don't think I'm a higher authority, I'm an objective non-fan with nothing against the Cowboys whatsoever. In fact I've touted many of their players and have said I like it when they're one of the top teams in the league. Unlike you and your Cowboy friends, however, I'm also able to call players out for being not great. Aikman was a decent QB on a team overflowing with talent on both sides.

Marino never had anywhere near the talent around him that Aikman did and still put up exponentially better numbers, even qualitatively. Brady had one season of Moss and got Gronk in 2010. Otherwise he was making guys like Deion Branch look like stars while throwing the rest of his passes to small white WRs that nobody else wanted.
Warren Moon, Donovan McNabb, Russell Wilson, Steve McNair, and a ton of other guys had nowhere near the talent around them Aikman did and still have better career QBRs. He's outside of the top 50 all-time in QBR, rating, INT%, and he's 165th in TD%. These are qualitative metrics, not quantitative, so you can't use the "they ran the ball all the time" nonsense.

Rule change or rule being enforced whichever makes you happy Brees still did nothing before 2004.
No rules were put into place in 2004. I see you still can't even back your nonsense up with any semblance of facts or coherency.

No major rules were put in place, but you can't deny the extra enforcement of existing rules completely changed the landscape of the passing game in the NFL.

nope....you manipulate and cherry pick stats, that much has been pointed out by near everyone who disagrees with your opinion. The fact remains, Dallas was a balanced run first team, thus passing stats would not be on par with the throw it around the park QB's you like to compare him too. As I've said many times, not one Cowboy fan is saying he's top 10 all time, maybe not top 20 all time. But he was very good when the stage was it's brightest. All Aikman did on the three super bowl teams was throw 17TD's in 9 games to 4 INT's for an overall comp.% of 68.7 and a QB rating of 112. Which is pretty darn good for a run first team. As I said, when they lost to the niners in the 94 championship game, in those two playoff games he threw for an average of 358 passing yards. Hardly a QB with little to know ability to throw the football.

As the other guy said, I'll give you Marino...and everyone knows Aikman is no Brady, nor Montana, BUT....really, McNabb, McNair and Wilson being classified as NFL great? LOL...we'll have to agree to disagee on what determines great with regards to QB play in the NFL.

as another posted....passing stats are not the end all when talking about great QB play. The eye test trumps box scores and championships count greatly, even on run first teams

Happy Easter Mister Objective.....:pound:

In 2004? Specifically tell me what changed in 2004 from a rules standpoint that turned Drew Brees from a supposed nobody to one of the greatest of all-time.

That's fair, Aikman played really well in the playoffs. Can't argue that. But for the entirety of his career, even his qualitative stats aren't even top 50 of all-time. Not even talking total yards or TDs here. I also never said he had "little to no ability to throw the football".

All I've done is post actual stats. How am I manipulating or cherry picking stats when I'm literally just posting actual stats?

Well, I'm not getting into the Drew Brees aspect too much, but he too most certainly benefitted (as did passing in general). Do I think he's a HOF'er? Yeah....but I think he's more in line with someone like Dan Fouts than say, Dan Marino. One guy was a great QB, and the other is arguably the best ever. JMO.

There were complaints made that DB's were getting more and more grabby, ie specifically Bill Polian of the Colts made the charge against the Pats backfield in the 2003 AFCCG. The following year saw refs putting more emphasis on calling illegal contact and DPI and such. In 2004, you saw records fall left and right - Most TD passes in a season and highest QB rating of all time for P. Manning. Highest QB rating ever for a rookie in Ben Roethlisberger and first time ever a QB had 30 TD's and less than 10 ints in a year with McNabb. Tied for the most QB's in a season with 100+ QB rating, with four guys doing it. The league as a whole set records. Etc. Etc.

I am not even sure Rodgers is Top 2 in Green Bay history.

Hmm interesting........

I kinda hold him in a little higher regard than Favre......And I hate Rodgers.....I just think hes a smug jackass in real life.

IMO, there is little to chose from between Favre and Rodgers. 2a and 2b. I don't like his girlfriend(maybe that's sour grapes)

So all you're saying here is that the refs started doing their jobs. It isn't like the league changed any rules in 2004 to benefit QBs, they just started calling penalties that should be getting called. I don't see how that means Brees looks better than he actually is.

You said rules were changed in 2004. I illustrated that they factually did not change. As I just mentioned above, you could maybe say refs started doing their jobs better. You've still yet to show any proof whatsoever that specifically Brees, more than any other QB, looks good only because of this.

When league records are falling left and right, it's safe to say the refs did more than 'just doing their jobs.' That's not a coincidence.

So you also think Brees is only good because of this? I think we saw pretty clearly in the playoffs that the refs don't have much of a bias in favor of Brees when calling PI.
