First priority is to send Sark packing. Open the checkbook to bring Matt LaFleur back or get Greg Roman. Both guys have experience running schemes similar to Shanny.

Do what it takes to slide up in the draft and get Ed Oliver in the 1st round. Also snag interior OL and some DB help.

Heal. Too many injuries to key players this year.

I feel good about the team, moving forward. This was an awful year plagued by injuries and poor coordinator work. Felt like neither side of the ball had a plan to be productive after losses of players like Devonta and Deion.

It’s terrible to watch the Saints ride so high but Brees won’t play forever and they’re effed once he retires.

I think the OL is the biggest priority . Secondary svjould be quite deep once Ricardo and Keanu return DL needs a little work but not at the level of the OL. For as bad as this year seems we are literally 3 plays away from being a playoff team even with all the injuries. Team will be fine next year as long as the OL gets beefed up and everyone stat relatively healthy

Assuming the injured guys all return to their pre injury form next year is a big assumption.

DEF...Manuel out...it really sounds like Quinn was not sold on Manuel for another 3 yr deal so he let him go pursue other opportunities rather than renewing his contract. Q steps in as the game day DC? For a guy that struggles with HC game day duties, idk if I like him trying to game plan and calling DEF plays.

Vic Beasley...we know he's not a $12 mil per player...imo, he's out of position as a 4-3...will they stick with his 5th yr?

I think getting Deion Jones back this season helps for next yr...somebody has to step up opposite McKinley or the CBs are going to struggle again.

Outlook...better in a 2019, but edge or scheme pressure has to be a lot better.

OFC...Sarkisian out...he also improved in yr two, but Sark showed that he's not prepared to match wits with the top DCs in this league. For all of the OFC talent, Dimitroff has gambled at OG for the last 2 seasons and I don't think he can gamble again. Look for ATL to go after a proven OG in FA and draft a OG within the 1st two rounds.

Outlook...Coach Q can't afford a slow 1st yr OC performance. He has to hire someone that can produce out the gate. About the same as this yr. This Bevel hire rumor does not generate a warm and fuzzy feeling, but Quinn has to hire someone he knows pretty well.

Not a lot has to be done, but the things that need to be done...REALLY need improving.

I don't disagree with most of this although I'm hesitant on getting rid of Sark. Not because I think he's great but because Ryan is no spring chicken ( same for JJ ) although they were not great this year I don't know how much if want to waste another year if their careers adjusting to a new ofc again .

I tend to agree...we can pretty much guess that whomever he hires at OC will have some working knowledge of the Shanny outside ZBS OFC. It seems like shoring up the OG spots would be easier to accomplish with less long term effects.

Name I keep hearing for OC is Darrell Bevel. Also, Koetter and if they bring him back then I'm never supporting Atlanta again.

Couldn't agree more on changing OC's again. Has Ryan had the same OC for 3+ years consecutively? Aside from that, I was very anti-Sark but I don't think anyone can blame the offense for this putrid year. The defensive injuries hurt (obviously) but the defense missed tackles, assignments and couldn't be more lost without a lead like Deion Jones on the field. They have to develop more leaders on defense so it's not as substantial of a fall if/when it happens again.

I don't like the idea of keeping Quinn. He had his shot, did great but I think it's going to cause issues with hiring competent coordinators with him basically taking a public demotion and now saying the microscope is on him this year.

Falcons Offer OC Job To Dirk Koetter

I don't share the same problem with Koetter...actually a decent OC, if he accepts the job, I don't expect a 1st yr drop off.

As for the OC change...Sark grew, RB1 out, and the interior OL was in shambles all reasons to maybe keep him, but when you look at the games...a lot of fluff (yds and points that didn't matter really) where was the misdirection stuff and the creativity that we saw in the final game all season? Ryan catching a TD pass?

Quinn...you could go both ways on coach...even with all of the injuries in addition to the 7 wins, he had the team in a 4 one possession games. The bad is they lost all 4 of those games and iirc they had a 4Q lead in at least 3 of them. Some of that is on coach Q and the staff.

From what I can tell...Manuel has been running Quinn's DEF that was developed in SEA. Maybe game day calls were not up to snuff...or maybe the rumor is true that Kris Richard is getting a HC job and Manuel will be his DC.

Given Q has had problems with his own duties such as clock management, etc IDK if like him calling DEF plays.

Koetter and Mularkey

How did this conversation go?

How can we make sure the Falcons never win a championship?

Well Dirk Koetter and Mike Mularkey have already proven they can’t do it. Heck, we had them here with one of the most potent teams of all time and they threw it away.

Great! Go get those guys!

I don't think DQ can survive back to back losing seasons, so his seat is probably getting warmer for sure but now was not the time to change HC imo, just too many key starters went down. The OFC improved, so I understand the keep Sark voices out there, but still showed too much inconsistency against the better teams. Not sexy names, but guys familiar with Matt Ryan and vice versa. I don't expect any drop off on OFC.

The big question is Grady Jarrett. This is 1st and last time to make a long term big contract for a DT, so you can't blame him for trying to max out. I'm expecting $65 to $75 mil total.

Out...
Robert Alford
Brooks Reed
Matt Bryant

These deals cleared about $15 mil in cap space. I'm not sure if they can afford to keep Sanu, and or Ricco Allen?

Falcons place franchise tag on DT Grady Jarrett

Word is they will continue to try to ink Jarrett to a long term deal by July 15th, but in the interim the team did franchise tag Grady and his projected cap hit is $15.5 mil for 2019. Mostly expected. Idk where Grady has put his number, but I think it's safe to say he wants $60+ mil and probably $40 mil guaranteed.

Well, well..they got Grady Jarrett and Deebo locked up long term.

Grady's deal should actually create some cap space for this season.

I like it. Now they've got to get Julio's contract done.

Having Keanu Neal back is really going to help this year.
