Just need more games against Philly....
It's a good matchup for us, obviously. Boston has got defenders that can slow down Embiid and Simmons, and a never-ending series of wings who can take advantage of the Reddick's and Korkmaz's of the world.

Imo, there are 2 things going on with the Celtics.

1. The youngsters have gotten a little full of themselves with what they did in the playoffs last year without Kyrie and Hayward.

2. They aren't catching anyone by surprise this year. In the playoffs, no one was expecting them to do what they did. Now, teams are prepared for them.

It's a fair critique... Hayward clearly being not close to 100% is a significant factor, too.

Still, a Celtics team focused on playing defense the right way can go toe to toe with any team in the league... come playoff time, Boston is not likely to be an easy out.

Somehow they need Kyrie to play in the system more. I feel Kyrie s initial reaction to any adversity is to put on his shoulders. But if he wants the team to always be involved he needs to see this need.

Now in the last 5 min? Sure more ISO. But not until then

Kyrie needs to morph his leadership objectives and if he does this team can be damaging. they have almost no holes on the roster

No doubt they won't be an easy out. Even if they still have this stuff going on when the playoffs start, they have too much talent to not make it to at least the 2nd round and probably the ECF depending on what happens with the Sixers and Raptors.

Even with the uncertainty around Kyrie and his comments, they still have to deal with teams now knowing how good they can be and being prepared for them. But then also fitting Hayward in while he's still not 100%.

They also didn't have Kyrie in the playoffs andf they're trying to fit him back in too. All of that effects rotations and minutes. That can be tough enough for veteran teams, let alone a young team like the C's.

What’s Really Wrong With the Boston Celtics?

Seems like this team doesn't like each other very much.

I was saying last offseason that the assumption that adding Kyrie and Hayward into the roster will automatically make the team better may be premature. Having too many mouths to feed is a problem.

The Celtics may need to trim the fat, and move a couple of star players for a few role players and draft picks.

Well Kyrie is a UFA next year. Marcus Morris is a UFA. Rozier is an RFA. And Al Horford could opt out.

You hate to see it happen.

They should just pretend they are playing the Sixers each night and everything would be solved....

From the cheap seats, it appears that Kyrie is the problem. He's been a pain in the ass during interviews and all of his buddies have signed except Leonard. He's got the whole thing started by joking about the Knicks but was never able to back pedal. This team was tough and formidable last season without Hatward and Kyrie, an 80% Hayward and an unhappy Kyrie are killing them.

Hayward is a replacement level player this year.

That’s a major factor.

And brown and Tatum haven’t made the leap.

And their shot selection hasn’t been good according to 538.

They will have to trade Horford to make a brow deal. And other players. It’s gonna be intereting to watch.

I think this article provides some good additional context.

The waiting for Gordon Hayward is the hardest part

The problem for the Celtics and Hayward is that it will be very difficult for him to get into any kind of rhythm with this team because he just won't get consistent looks. If he misses a couple of early open looks that might be it for him for the night.

Still looking lost 74 games in....

I was one of the people splashed a lot of water on the Celtics hot predictions in the offseason but I really didn't expect them to struggle this much.

the only good news is 3 first rounders gives them some ammo to make a big deal.

It'll be interesting to see what they do.

The Kyrie comments about Brad's coaching make me think Kyrie is gone.
