Yea, maybe Pat Riley has been right all along. Riley was one of the few coaches if not the only coach that advocated for a reduced reg season down to 72 games for the belief and probably fact that the long season catches up with playersphysically especially if perennial playoffs are involved. Riley first advocated for this back during the Showtime Lakers.

The owners will never stand for it and the union... ...well they may or may not go for it. WE have had another crappy season because some colossal mistakes and well, now injuries.

Yeah, a shorter season would probably be better, but it's never going to happen because there would be too much money lost. As soon as the owners realized how much they would lose, they're not going for it...

and when the players realize that they will also be making less, they aren't going for it either.

Leagues are always looking for ways to have more games, not fewer.

Remember when the first round of the playoffs was 3 games? Now all playoff rounds are 7. lol

Crybron is declining but still good enough to win championships but he needs a full supporting cast these days. Cant have just a couple other hi level players anymore.
:sadbron:

I project the Lakers to start loading up on players in FA this year.

To be fair, everyone needs help, always have. Heck, the Warriors have what? 4 all star caliber guys?

Hopefully the Lakers can get another max level guy in free agency and maybe trade for another quality player and bring in a couple of quality role players for the bench.

I'd like to see the Lakers lure Klay Thompson away from the W's this summer. That would be a def upgrade.

It's not happening, but he would be the perfect complement to Lebron's game. Ingram's too, for that matter.

Then wait for AD to become a FA next summer.

The problem with signing Klay, is that it would likely mean there wouldn't be money to sign AD in the next off-season. The Lakers had cleared space for 2 max contracts, Lebron got 1, Klay would get the 2nd one. I don't think they'd have a way to clear a 3rd one before AD became a free agent.

They would have to trade for AD and sign Klay. So, if it were to happen, it would have to happen this off-season.

If they are going to wait for AD, then the better option would be to trade for someone like Bradley Beal and then sign another year of place holders to preserve the cap space to sign AD in 2020.

That would give them Beal, Lebron and hopefully 2 of Ingram, Kuzma, Lonzo and Hart and then they'd need to do a better job on signing placeholders to get them to 2020. You can get to the playoffs with that.

Then, in 2020, they could sign AD, and assuming that Lebron is still at least a top 10 player in the league, have real shot at contending. Especially if KD leaves the Warriors.

He is learning that you don't need a bunch of whack-jobs from his family to becomes successful in the NBA.

If we go on a tear, the best we can do is .500 for this year. We aren't going to get there with 7 TOs in the first quarter alone.

After a bad pass by James, he gets it back with a steal on the defensive end that leads to a dunk by McGee.

James isn't going to go to the playoffs the first time in 13-straight seasons. Maybe he is looking forward to the rest.

Wow, our lead is up to 11. Playing defense and then running the floor for easy baskets. But will it last in the fourth quarter?

Caruso misses a three and then McGee gets the foul. We have this inconsistency that continues to plague us in games.

Caruso has a bleeding knee. They had to stop the game to see who is bleeding.
