He was due to make $18MM this year though it was not guaranteed
He signed with the Titans for 1 year at $7MM that could go to 12 based on playing time

So he has accepted the role of back-up.

So do the Dolphins trade up for a QB or tank the season so they can draft one next year?

For Tannehill this makes sense because he lost his starting gig to Brock Osweiler. Not sure it is accepting and more like realization he isn't a starter.
For Miami it is gold they get a 4th round pick for him.
For the Titans is where it makes zero sense to give up such I high pick for someone that really isn't that good.

Unless Mariotta goes down 1st...... Just sayin'

I mean... this trade... is kind the definition of 'whatever'. The Dolphins are expected to be terrible next year, Mariota can't stay healthy, and neither can Tannehill, who has been OKAY but not worthy of 8th overall. I push part of that blame to the TERRIBLE Dolphins FO, but when you're signing a QB who has been somewhat injury prone, to backup... an injury prone QB... o.O

The Colts and Texans should both be better than the Titans next year, and Tannehill seems as injury prone as Mariota, so what's the point? Just release Mariota at this point (who has never started a full season) who as I predicted has been a major bust and either draft a new guy or just flat out start Tannehill, which the Titans appear to have no intention of doing. Even if you start Tannehill you're basically in the same spot you were before. A 'meh' QB that was WAY overrated because 'uh... scrambling QBs brah!" and drafted WAY too high.

That said, it makes sense for both teams. The Dolphins can move on from someone that will never do anything for them and the Titans can.. uh... have a bac- I mean who he fuck cares? Neither team is going to do anything and the Titans didn't give up really anything. I'll give a slight not to the Dolphins since they got some trade capital, but it's a 4th rounder.

B grade Titans, B+ grade Dolphins.
The fact both FOs actually negotiated a legit trade and didn't go outside into the back alley and punch each other's FO in the nuts, prevents this from an A signing.

Yeah even when healthy (use that term loosely with Tannehill) last season Brock was better. :L
You must be on something Tanny didn't lose his job he was injured... either way they never got the oline right and he's not good enough to overcome that. Plus Gase is a horrific playcaller...glad he's gone more than Tanny. Either way I wish him the best of luck odds are Mariotta will get hurt and they'll need him.
