Players need to go door to door selling cookies to raise money for the league.
I'll take some thin mints, samoas, and tagalongs........

Should've donated that money to California's homeless population. I mean that would've been a MUCH wiser investment! Right? Right?!? Uh... guys?

Who's the blame for letting the AAF hang on the thread? The people who didnt attend the games. The same people who didnt attend games in the following cities... Memphis, Birmingham, and Phoenix.

These new football leagues are all going to fail, they are all going to be seen as arena league or at best CFL type leagues. Why? Because a lot of football is built off tradition and history.

These new leagues are best to not try and become a rival to the NFL, they should start off embracing the new feel and change and promote it as such. But they need to invest some money into their product before they trot it out onto the TV screens and field. The AAF uniforms look like a cross between CFL uniforms, arena football uniforms and NFL All-star uniforms. It looks awful and cheap.

When you try to sell minor league/semi pro talent as the real deal, you reap the consequences.

Yep, new businesses are always tough at the start but not being able to make week 2 payroll indicates these guys have no idea what they're doing.

I'll go out on a limb and say this league will not make it to season 2.

What's interesting though is there are markets willing to watch developmental football...I think San Antonio had a 20k+ gate, Memphis 10k...the NFL could be missing out on an opportunity...not so much to make money, but to develop player (and ref) prospects with NFL rules.

Barring a major injury, a guy on the PS is not really going to get enough reps in practice or camp to get on the field...a developmental league like this, a player can get reps in competition.

They aren't trying to be a rival to the NFL. Thus why they start after the NFL is over.

A future minor league to the NFL is their best bet of survival. Considering 53 players plus a practice squad in the NFL it would seem a minors is not a bad idea.

Exactly. 20k plus people at a game isnt hateful considering they are only paying these guys upper middle class wages.

the AAF chairman is saying that a decision is going to be made in the next 2 days about what to do with the league and one of the options is to fold up shop

As much as I was excited for this league, I will say, most of these teams are awful. Only teams I can see doing really much of anything are the San Antonio Commanders and the Orlando Apollos. Every other team is just fucking trash.

In order for a football minor league to be successful, it has to be supported fully by the NFL itself, which this obviously wasn't.

The NFL won't do that anyways because it has a free minor league system with NCAA football.
